Hi, Looks like a cool resource. I'll have a better look later on. I have a couple of special beers to try tonight, really looking forward to them. One has Whisky actually mixed with it! Cheers, Nik

Hi hoplovers,

Just sitting down to this one;

Posted Image

Think Old Speckled Hen, plus Whisky. What a nice beer, quite low in alcohol which takes away from what could be a nicer, thicker mouthfeel, but overall it is a well made beer. The Whisky is more of a nose than a taste, but the aroma does excite the pallete.

I could see myself sitting on this for an afternoon with no drama, whatsoever.

Cheers,
Nik

Apologies for the poofie angles on the first two! If anyone wants some thoughts on these beers just ask, but I recommend them ALL. Only took snaps of my favourites.

Hi,

OK. You're all too cool and have things to do on Saturday night... my better half is off with friends so I'm home drinking fancy beers.

Posted Image

Hops hops and hops are the nose. Almost sweet on the aroma, but such an inviting Cascade/Fuggles driven smell that you just have to dive right in. Being a double IPA, the Fuggles is very prominent, strong on the tounge. But the most amazing flavour of red fruits is what is keeping me sipping. A very serious beer that opens up new flavours with every taste.

I strongly recommend this beer. Something this good from the US is refreshing!

Cheers,
Nik

Hi,

If it can compete in the IBU battle, I'm down.

Now, here's my tip for Sunday BBQ beer drinking. If you're like me, you won't want to sit on something too heavy all day - and something not too expensive if your damn mates have the combination to the esky. So. My advice is to get a carton of imported Becks. Very important that it is imported, it should be the same price as the crap we get here brewed under licence, but it is easy to tell - check the carton, it should look like this....

Posted Image

Bottle shops don't generally like this because it does not have 6packs inside, they are all just in the honeycomb cardboard packaging.

This goes for Carlsberg, Heiny, etc. They aren't amazing beers, but they are all $10/cart less than Corona... which is shit.

Enjoy in moderation.

Cheers,
Nik

Hi, I think we touched on Birrel earlier in the thread. It is quite a growing trend through Europe, but an age old style. Time will tell if we can accept it here... I don't think Aus will drink it in any mentionable volumes. Cheers, Nik,

Nik, Stella is along the same lines as Becks, right? I've been sticking to the Peroni lately.

Hi, I really should have mentioned Peroni. Peroni is possibly the most important brew to get the imported and not the under licence stuff. Seriously. The imported is so much better, I can barely drink the stuff made here. Stella is like Becks... but only girls drink Stella. :) Cheers, Nik
