Hi, Coeliac. Tough break! I love choc milk, sausages and tofu burgers! But the above beers might be right up your alley. Waiting on a call back from IBS now. Cheers, Nik

Yeh kinda sux but u get over it after a few years... kinda lol
I can have some choccies but only plain and if i check the ingredients (have 2 check ingredients on everything = makes shopping VERY long and painful - not 2 mention eating out :( )

I got sick from having Midori, found out that all those "lolly" drinks have glucose syrup which is derived from wheat, so there go some cawktails.
But i'm pretty good on the vodka :)

FYI Woolworths/ Safeway in Melb has two slabs of CUB product for under $65.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

http://www.unibroue....cts/raftman.cfm 6 from 8. Another good one. Dark fruits/berry tastes, and a slight amount of smoke from the "smoked whiskey malt" (remmeber, I'm not a smoke flavour fan, so when I say sight, I mean slight. Buzz, you may not notice smoke at all). Top 10 beer for me... for reals

Hi,

Just an update on the still assembly for those interested.

I will give a more in depth write up if anyone is interested, just let me know. I have a lot of photos. The framework at the base of the still is going to be Marri t&g flooring across, so should compliment the stainless/copper quite well.

Bring on the booze!

Cheers,
Nik

Hi, It's actually been really easy. I'm putting together a little story for my next newsletter, so I'll post that up here when I'm done. The biggest problem right now is that the motors are three phase, and I only have single phase supply! Argh! Cheers, Nik

Looks good, great actually. Is Marri a dark timber like Jarrah? If so, will looks tops. At the moment it reminds me of something from 'Lost in Space'!!!

Hi, I think you guys call Marri, Redgum over there? Buzz might back me on that. It is a dark golden colour, but hold a lot of feature. It's also what all my benchwork etc. is done in, so should tie up nicely. Cheers, Nik

Nik, you can buy a magic box that plugs into single phase ("normal" power) and puts out 3 phase. I worked in a winery that had to get one to run their new crusher so its probably a regular problem in your caper. No idea on cost but must have been cheaper than running a new 3 phase supply line from the road.
And that is a wicked looking machine :drinks:

Hi, It costs $9,864 - so not really an option for me at the moment as this is a personal project, not funded by anyone but me. I am looking into replacing the four motors with locally sourced single phase units and selling the current motors. I appreciate your thoughts though, long days. I think it's time to go home. Eight squirt. I hope the missus is in a good mood. Cheers, Nik

Sorry missed this post...

Marri is commonly known as Redgum, but is exclusive to Sth West Aust, so it looks nothing like what we call Redgum over here.

Having said that, I know from experience (was a timber grader for 4 1/2 yrs) that a particular species of wood can have HUGE variations in colour even within the one tree (Red Iron Bark for example can range from light grey to red so dark it looks purple), so could just be due to location. :drinks:

P.S. Sorted out the supply yet?

Hi, Supply is sorted for sure, still waiting for the moisture to come down in the kiln. Seems to be hovering a bit too far above 13% at this stage, could be another fortnight apparently! Eep! But I have enough ready to do under the still, I think some was delivered yesterday, I'll see if I can get a photo. Cheers, Nik

Hi, Nope. Still getting final pricing on replacing all the units with single phase but same KW output motors. We will wait and see. I can only hope that I don't have to drop the ten K, as it will come directly out of my next car fund. Cheers, Nik

Hi, The GF might be interesting. I think they are all pretty clever for exploiting the GF industry. I can't believe the mark up on the food. My cousin is trying out a GF diet on doctor advice, and some of the stuff is ridiculously expensive. Had a Perla, 500mL Pilsner from Poland on Friday night. Got rid of it so quickly. I think I need to start ordering more challenging beers when I am out and about, 2.4st.drinks in five minutes ain't a good look. Loved it though, could've run a carton. Keep your eye out for it. Also, we all had Kunstmerr's at Mexican on Wednesday, another easy drinking affair. Cheers, Nik
