Hi,

I think it's pretty bloody good for the money, mate. It's right by AMS' house.

Cheers,
Nik

So that I don't get laughed at on the HV cruise for drinking typical pub beer and I'm gonna safely assume I won't find a good German brew up there. What's a good beer to start with in the advanced category? I.e. outside the whole superdry, extra dry, Heineken stage. :)

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Hi,

Pilsner or Pale Ale is a pretty neat stepping stone. Anything really out of the Squires or Little Creatures ranges. A Kolsch might be a nice thing to try as well.

Cheers,
Nik

I enjoy squires or creatures. But not the pales. Not my style!

Fat Yak is yum and I really like Squires chancer golden ale and 150 lashes at the moment.

Nothing wrong with extra dry. If anyone laughs at you it will be because of your nudity.

Had a few Pilsner's in Deutschland, wasn't a fan at the time. Been a while since I had a Kolsch..
I'll try an Ale at lunch. Think I've had a Squires before and it was very fruity, is that the golden ale?

Hi,

Pilsner Urquell is the king of all Pilsners! It's Czech.

Cheers,
Nik

I said "Urkell" for a reason Nik!

Not a fan of it at all. Makes me want to move on to hard liqour and never go back.

I do find I get a bad hangover from 150 lashes for some reason. Sux cause I really enjoy the taste.

Hi,

Never heard of that, only ever heard of Urquell. Famed for the being the very first Pilsner ever made. These days it's owned by SABMiller - same mob that owns the Fosters Group!!

On the Polish tip, they also own Tyskie!

Cheers,
Nik

Hi,

Quite possible. I don't know how long SAB has owned them for now?

Cheers,
Nik

youre getting stone fruit from golden ale?? Thats an odd one. Amarillo hops come through pretty strong for me with the Chancer.

Try the Little Creatures Pilsner. Its a bit "softer" than Urquell. Its a lot better than it used to be too. It should be too. It spends a fuckload more time in tank than the ales. Stepped mashing at brewhouse, long cool ferment, and stepped chilling in the cellar.

Id drink Coopers green over 150 lashes. Its cheaper and has basically the same kind of flavour. I find Aussie pale ales a bit bland. However they can be smashed back all day without tiring the palate. Which is of course why they exist.

Sig worthy.

Yeah my Cuz told me that. I think it is fruit driven but couldn't name one it reminds me of. I like it!

Here's a funny review from some kent on the "Chancer"

Smells like the floor of an English pub, the type of noxious mix of stale ale, yeast re-fermenting and vegetable detritus... not as unappealing as you would expect but certainly not winning any awards. Still not as bad as the trash heap aroma that wafts off of most Aussie macro lagers.

hahahaaaaaaaaa l

horses for courses really. If thats what you get, thats what you get. Sometimes I think people get too involved with what flavours are present. I know Ive drunk beers from the same batch on different occasions, and got different things from them.

The fruitiness usually comes from the esters produced by the yeast as a by product of fermentation. So different yeast strains produce different levels of the different esters. Also you can play with that further by changing your ferment temps. but thats a whole other (and quite boring ) story.

Im actually gagging for an Oettinger right now. All I have is a fridge full of Pale ale and Rogers' though. Firts world problems

Sig worthy.

This is what I said about lashes

no, just no flavour at all. No malt, no really hop, not a sausage. Might as well have been bubbly water. oh, and taste like cardboard

and chancer

Two sips and I tipped. There was some malt, however almost no hops aroma, just a bitterness (not even a resin/pine). It taste oxidized. eew

I like chancer :(

Thought I was finally drinking something good.

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"

I should just convert to single, right?
