If you're picking up a EJ25 NA just get the ECU along with it.

http://www.rsliberty...ead.php?t=82177 RS Bonnet for sale on RSLC, not sure if yours is S1 or S2, but this is a G1 S2 bonnet. $150. You'll need to ship it though, its on sunshine coast.

My engine has cracked heads. Was going to get other heads gasket rebuild kit, port and polish the heads for fun. This ej25 if I do the same will be a bit more expensive but not a great deal. My occupational status will change a fair bit between here and now. So im fairly keen in 2years I'll be happy having a newer engine with more power :) and not have regrets on this. Im not trying for some Na power monster, just trying to get what I can with what I got :) without being stupid :) Might even think about building an ej22t for when im ready for turbo goodnesss And dyl mines a S1 if you saw any of the pics :P Someone from syd had a s1 for 150 in undercoat Dunno if they still have it will need to checn this arvo. Either way I can get one from cardiff autos

Mark, there is no replacement for displacement. 2.5ltr + DOHC > 2.2ltr + DOHC. But when you break it down, its 4hp vs 3hp. So really just do what ever is easiest. It's certainly not going to be easy to rebuild an EJ22 to suit the EJ25 heads. You'll spend 2-3k and end up with a whole 80hp motor.

I thought that myself exactly! but the 2.5 has more torque?

I'll have a price today on an ej25d by the end of today when i get a chance to use the phone

Phase 1 EJ25 has DOHC heads :P

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

they have head gasket problems too no??

and while there is no replacement for displacment, the rev characteristics of the two engines is completely different... and again for the ej20... while the ej25 might have more mid range tourque the ej20 or 22 might have more top end power due to being more revvy...

it's something to do with bore vs. stroke and being over or under square...

The H6 has engineering problems No?? :P I've driven an ej25 bilstein sedan seemed to rev a lot better then my ej22. Even an ej20 from an imprezza seems to go harder then my old engine :( Ej25 ftw

LOL Tristan, stop while you're ahead bud. Both the Ej25 and Ej22 rev just as hard as one another. The EJ25 is just a far better motor (aside from the head gasket issue, which is easy fixed before he fits one anyway). Rev's don't equal power. When you're talking NA engines the bigger the better. (well in any senario really, but its more critical with NA motors.)
