Haha sorry mate i didnt recognise that you changed your name. my bad hahaaha.

yeah im pretty sure theyre different cause i couldnt find those two holes for the time/trip displays either. maybe you can take the rear cover off to change the globes? i remember some screws to take the back off but didnt manage to take the back part off when i had the dash apart.

Those smds look very tempting. i think i might need them a bit brighter too. speedo and tacho have very minor hotspots..

Thats alright mate. :empathy3:

I tried taking the rear cover off and it revealled nothing... I think the actually dials need to be taken out to access the trip display... When i get a chance ill look at the user manual n see if its possible

Sweet mate keep me/us updated as ill be doing that as soon as i know how!

I would also like to replace the ciggarette lighter light but not quite sure what to replcace it with, and also the ignition hole light (but not sure how to take it apart to replace it). It tells you the globe to replcae on the link you gave me but doesnt say how to take it apart to replace!

Cheers mate, sam

I know I've gotta stop talking about getting it lowered and just do it! Rims will stay for now. Might powdercoat them or try swapping them for some other 18s.

As far as aftermarket rims go, I don't think those 18s are too bad. Simply 5 spokes.

Is that you on facey?

I have a question. What is stopping me from replacing my current springs with lowered springs exactly? I can't get it through my head that I need to change all these different things to lower my outback.

Could I replace the springs in it with lowered ones? Without any other modification? Just the springs and not struts...

I did. Most people suggest new struts or atleast new shockies to go with them. I'm a cheapo P-Plater so all I did was buy some new springs, chuck em in, and enjoy my new ride height.

Finally finished replacing the old springs with new Pedders Sports Ryders coils. Took a bit to get the suspension back in place but finally did it!
Theres not much of a difference in stiffness but the ride does feel a little firmer, but ill take it for a better drive after a wheel alignment.
The new springs do sit a little lower than the stock ones more-so at the front than the rear.

Ive cut the front left bumpstop about half an inch or so and didnt do the front left one as i put it back together forgetting to cut it. The rear ones i will either shave or replace with smaller ones at another time, maybe when i get the wheel alignment...

I took a couple of snaps but its with my iphone so not very good quality and not very good lighting, sorry.

I reckon you could go lower, just my two cents. Looking better though man, it's getting there.

Any lower and you gotta start changing a stack of parts and im not ready to be forking out that much money... and dont have the mechanical knowledge to be able to do it myself.

I think its a pretty good improvement until i go for maybe coil-overs in the future or do the whole conversion... Well see what happens.

But i think it sits a lot better than stock. Looks alot more like the wheels fit in the arches and not raised..

When the springs "settle", will the car sit lower? Or what will the result be??

I had a bit of time on my hands this morning to try to change the rear garnish so that it had brake/night lights.

I got them in by running a wire straight from the right hand side brake lights up the rear quarter panel and up through the rubber tube into the boot door.

Everything works fine and good, I only had to cut a hole on the left hand side (like morgan and luke said!), to get the new globe in..

Here are some daytime pics of it, ill take some night time or dusk ones tonight...

Only headlights on..

To get the middle section to light up would i have to run some more globes to the other spots where globes can go? Or can it not be done??
I was thinking of just running the tail light there and not the brake light???
Any thoughts or suggestions?

P.s. For future things to come ill be looking at borla replica headers this week as well as some kind of short shifter (cant seem to find any on eBay).
Also, I am really considering deleting the roof racks and filling the holes, Im pretty sure im never ever EVER going to use them and i think they look really ugly and i reckon that the car will look very sleek without the racks on top!
Just my thoughts though...someone will talk me out of it im sure :)

Cheers guys..

Nick

Haha having fun with the language filters? haha

Yeah mate looks sooooooo much better with less space above the tyre and under the guard..! The back is still a little high but ALOT better than before..
Yeah its not very practical but im never going to use it off road. Thats another reason i want to remove the roof racks... Im never going to use them and i think it'll look better! Ive never seen a gen3 OBK with no roof racks?!

Cheers again Nick
