I bought mine of bobbyjimmy
It is slightly lower than the stock one. Main difference is the throw. It's more of a pop - pop between gears, I think there is a vid in my DIY too?

Best mod you can do to the interior is just source yourself the interior from a Limited spec Outback. Leather trim is niceI've been looking at some other Subaru sites and was a bit interested in maybe painting the interior to a darker colour, maybe matte black or something?
I put the blue LEDs into the hvac unit(still waiting on the gauge light LEDs) but they are not all that bright and make spots. I think I need more intense LEDs???
When it dries up I'm definitely taking the wheels off and painting the calipers maybe a dark blue or black.
I'll be taking off the crappy autobarn chrome letters off the rear of the car and filling the two holes in the back, might do that tomorrow.
Replacing all interior halogen globes with white LEDs, and then cig lighter ring and key ring light to blue.
I also really want to look further into a short shifter.... Do I get a cheap one from eBay? Or where do I get a decent one?
These are just some things that won't cost too much money, and that I can do myself. Maybe not the short shifter but the rest...
Any other suggestions??
Cheers

Otherwise if your looking for something small and easy to do yourself - I've been considering putting a faint gold pin-stripe along the character line of the car. Massive old man mod I know lol, but I rekon it would look neat and uplift the appearance a bit.

Yeah I'd love to bung in a heap of leather. But where from?
And I was actually looking at the pin striping today... Gold would look with the blue on yours, maybe a blue for me??? Not sure..
Do you or anyone know if the grey parts in my car( the front and rear bumper and side peice), are they transferable? Say if I found another outback that had a white bottom half? To save the hassle of painting it? Just an idea...

You will need the right shifter. Have a Google and see what you come up with... I'm not sure of part numbers or anything.

Half of Bobbyjimmys car is in your outback

Is it a nice sounding pop? Or does it sound crap?
There are a stack of ones on eBay for just under $100 posted. They say outback specific bug not sure if I wanna go with a no name brand...

The white bottom half is only offered with the pearlescent paint option on the H6. So nah, it won't match your car even if it is white.Yeah I'd love to bung in a heap of leather. But where from?

Check local wreckers. I know in Syd, there are a couple here...

Damn that!
And I think we got probz 5 wreckers in and around Coffs... I've asked before and they said it's very rare to see an outback there, but I'll keep my eyes open...

Also have a Sony xplod subwoofer in the boot, may as well make some use for it. I think it's a 1200w sub, what sort of amp should I be running?
1200w is the max power tying they use for marketing, the RMS (rated power) will be more like 250-300W. You will need either a 300-400w mono block or a 4x100w multi channel amp and bridge 2 of the channels together which will deliver around 200-250w. In my opinion though the explode pentagon subs are pretty awful I would ditch it and get something else. I found that they don't give a lot of depth and their range isn't that broad either. On the other hand though, explode 3 & 4 way speakers offer excellent value for money - nice depth, broad range, good clarity and power handling

Ahh sweet mate a very in depth response. If I tossed the old sub and replaced it with another 12" into the enclosure, what brand would you suggest (cheap) for amp and sub? Cheers

What is your budget? Are you running aftermarket speakers too? How big is the box? And do you have any of the cabling required?
Budget is cheap, liking even much. I'm not going for super bass just for the bass to be there. So I'll stick with the Sony sub and get an ok amp. I have an amp there, but not sure of it's quality. All I need is wires really. And no I hav the stock speakers in. Just an a/m headunit.

Both interior redo's I've done were $1200 and $1000 respectively. That's both Leather, with electric front seats and perfect condition. With one of them I was able to get a newish centre console facia aswell. How much? I'll have a look tonight.
Right now I'm looking at twin racing seats for a 2seater civic i'm working. They're only $90ea. Just have to look on eBay heaps, and through shit tins of car mags for all the places around that sell decent seats and interior parts. Some times you'll get good stuff at an awesome price, other times you have to the premium.

It's a boss audio amp, all it says is 4x200w. So guessing if I am to use this one then I bridge it to the sub? And I have the yellow-red wires. Just need to buy a battery cable, remote cable and fuse. If the amp IS actually dodgy and for some reason it dies on me... Is there any chance it will damage my head unit or car?Fair enough. The amp you have will probably be fine for the explode sub. What RMS rating is the amp? It should be stamped on it somewhere
Cheers

Is that re done through like a leather upholsterer or just a replacement of seats with leather ones? I had vinyl green and cream ones in my old civic! Still got them haha
