cheers bro,

fairly slow to be honest, once the wheels get here and i have it on the road ill probably save for a good part of a year. itll give me time to fix up and sell the liberty and buy a work car.

this is basically stage 1 and 2 just about done, save some cash then its time to do engine (unless this one blows up), computer etc and once thats complete and im happy with it, ill cage it up

cant wait to see how it feels!

This is bordering on pornographic. I shudder to think how much cash is in the brakes and coilovers alone!

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

Gearbox and ratios : Hektic
DCCD: Hektic
Bilsteins: Hektic
Front CV's: Not so Hektic

I hope to Christ you're still not running those plastic sway bar end links.

They're surely not "hectic".

If one of those plastic end links break whilst you're loaded up around a corner with even low speed, it's enough to send you going into an uncontrollable spin.

this. they are by far the weakest link in the chain, where your other gear will hold on, these won't. no sway bar isn't fun.

But yeh all in all pretty good, fun to drive.

i have a range of noises which could be cvs AND wheel bearings, but im not tooo conserned about that at the moment.

Next step will be new links and sway bars (yes im still running the crappy plastic ones) and some strut braces.

Also ill have to figure out how and when to properly use this DCCD box aswell (which actually functions! :yahoo: )

Once the wheel bearings completely shit them selves ill opt for the 5x114 hubs from the newer sti's but have to find somewhere that will machine them to fit the gc8 suspension (coz i aint throwing out my brand new billies)

Then at some stage next year ill get the engine etc etc but im sure gremlins will entertain me until then

You can buy 100PCD later model STI hubs machined to fit GC8 front suspension.
6 gun racing are the people who have done some for a few guys here in Aus. They are a US based company.
I have a link to their website, but it looks down, and has go daddy all over it.
They have also had a few poor customer service reviews but a lot of satisfied customers as well.
As Tony Montana would say:
In this country, you gotta make the money first.
Then when you get the money, you get the power.
Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

ive heard about them, but i also heard that 5 x 114 reduce pad knock back aswell and that the front bearings are changable without using a press. But yeh ill deal that crap when the time comes.

also for peoples wanting 4.44 boxes and their concern about fuel econonomy, i got 500km on the way to thredbo and back, so it isnt that bad concidering the booting to overtake people i was giving it :D

Rightio fellas,

after a 3 and something year hiatus, ive decided on working on the car again. plans have changed slightly.

  • trying for rally plates (RVS rally vehicle scheme) to do some amateur tarmac stuff
  • car in dire need of big big service
  • more suspension goodies and engine bay work on cards.
  • keeping stock motor till it fails

in the pipe line for the next couple months will be getting the car up to scratch again, which means...

new clutch kit

timing belt kit and associated parts

new mishimoto radiator and hose kit (please comment on this brand)

sway bars (whiteline seems to be the only brand i can find retailers of. anyone know good ones in sydney?)

new intercooler (GD sti if possible)

misc hoses and seals that are ever so slowly leaking.

if anyone has any info of part numbers/retailers/what they paid for/comments on brands etc im all ears

cheers

Niz
