Now you have cheap car that goes plus one that doesn't.
The one that doesn't is still costing money.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Especially in QLDA roadworthy isn't a full mechanical assessment.
In some instances, a carton of piss and your car will be 'mechanically sound'

Yeah im actually quite up in the air about keeping the mazda and selling the subaru, just because of maintenance/running costs, especially up here.I can see what they are getting at with this car costing as much to put on the road as gettting the old Subaru back on the road, but in all honesty with your money issues the Mazda would be far better economy wise. Even for maintenance costs lol. I'd take the Subaru to the scrapper and wait till you can afford to buy a nicer (working) one. And I can see where you are coming from with the rebuild cost, your location doesn't help.
The subaru was so fun and so cool and its now known by other drivers around town, the car gets recognized, i don't.
The mazda is a little box thats practical, economical and cheap to maintain.
for crying out loud... I know the mechanic who did the roadworthy, he is a friend of mine, i asked him to have a look through the car and make sure its all good before i go driving it to townsville.Especially in QLD
In some instances, a carton of piss and your car will be 'mechanically sound'
He said it all looks sweet, just replace the plugs, leads and coolant. (Note: he did not take it above 80klmh) All the suspension, brakes and engine appear to be sound.
To clarify, I got the roadworthy mechanic to have a look at it, i didnt get him to do a roadworthy and rely on that to tell me "its mechanicaly sound" i actually requested that he check the car over as well as do the roadworthy.
Now this morning i took it out on the highway to test it at 100klmh, it feels good and placed (not as good as the subaru, but more comfortable and less deafening) the only issue is one of the front wheels feels like its imbalanced. So next week i will take it for an alignment and balance.

I've heard of some instances where you can ring the guy, tell him your details and they will send out a RWC.

I apologies, I didn't mean for my comment to be directed at you, just in general for QLD RWC.
I've heard of some instances where you can ring the guy, tell him your details and they will send out a RWC.
Haha yeh that happens a fair bit up there hey!! My mates used to do it, even though there cars were roadworthy they just couldn't be bothered taking it in and waiting :/

Hahaha......'Dial a Roadworthy'.
Used to have them down here.
Now we have to take pics and file them along with a massive paper trail.

I get the feeling this car will approach the cost of fixing the Liberty.

I have a wheel balance and alignment scheduled for lunch, At 100+ the wheels feel imbalanced so im getting them checked and a wheel alignment just to be doubly sure.
After getting used to the clutch, i can confirm that it isn't me, the clutch is in need of replacement soon. That will be my first ever clutch replacement... Better give it a go right? I'm looking at an exedy oem clutch.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.
It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

Got the wheel balance ($20) and it didnt resolve the issue but it made it less of a problem. Clutches for this thing are like $150 for a good one. Gonna try adjusting the cable first tho. See if dad can do anything.
Currently looking at the price of a replacement engine for the liberty. Calling around for anything thats available. Thinking if i can fix the lib cheap enough i can sell it and just use the mazda until i can afford a WRX or some shit.
