Maybe if i beat up about 10 blokes then get in and drive off while ripping a skid?
That could improve my rep?

Hi,

If you talk about every single minor insignificant detail in real life, like you do on here, I wouldn't be surprised that people hang shit on you.

The whole point of a shitter is to just shutup and drive it.

Cheers,
Nik

Hahah can it rip skids lol. My old pulsar used to struggle to rip skids. Tell your mates to walk and then see how fast they get into your car. It's a cheap daily so who cares about wat your mates say.

It looks like its coming along nicely.

Dude f**k your mates you'll be the one saving cash while they are driving around in their fully sick commodores forking out cash for three for their skids and petrol every week. And then you'll end up with a decent car eg wrx or a xt foz haha

Edit: and also because your car is small you can do fun things like driving over walk bridges or on footpaths etc. while they sit there skidding their money away lol.

HAHAHAHA, already proven the usefulness of small cars in Townsville.
Oh look a car park... oh damn two 4x4's that are parked over the line... Small car fits.

Wheel bearing is not repairable by me or my father, need a hydraulic press. Looks like i will be paying someone to do it for me.... latter.

If i wasnt renting i would probably go and fill a shed with goodies, engine crane, engine stand, hydraulic press, lathe, etc.

Incorrect.

I used to do FWD bearing all the time without a press. Besides, the press is only useful for assembly.

All you need is some drifts or punches, angle grinder, a decent vice and a hammer.

Start by using the pipe and a hammer to knock the hub from the spindle. This will cause half the inner race to remain on the hub.
Knock the outer race from the spindle using a drift and hammer, check if there is a retaining clip first.
Then grind the inner race down on the hub, being careful not to grind into the hub itself. What you are trying to do is make the race thin enough you can crack it with a mild hammer blow. Once it cracks, it can be tapped off.

Refit the new bearing to the spindle (using the vice to sart it if you like) by gently tapping with a hammer and drift, then gently knock fit the hub into the bearing.
Couple of tips. Drop the spindle in hot or boiling water, and the bearing in the freezer prior to fitting. this will expand the spindle and shrink the bearing so they will go together a bit eaiser. For the same reason you would put the hub in the freezer and fit when the bearing is back up to ambient temp.

Note:
This method will also work with a SUBARU.

  • You can but an angle grinder for $20
  • If your Dad is a mechanic, he should be comfortable with installing a bearing with a hammer
  • The job only takes about an hour
  • If you knew the bearing is crook, you should have bought one so you can change it when the opportunity arises.
