oh how i love spam...

i'm back in sydney now...

on the first day miles got heaps done...

pics (56k = fail):

exhaust and driveshaft out
Posted Image

old gearbox still in... almost ready to come out
Posted Image

3.9 gearbox out, engine somewhat stripped

coming out

new motor
Posted Image
Posted Image

new box 4.11 gen3 RX box (according to miles, as strong as the gen2 GT-B box)
Posted Image

4.11 diff in
Posted Image

he (i wasn't allowed to help) also got the 4.11 box in, the driveshaft in, the clutch sorted out (i'm going to stick with a cable clutch as it requires less fabricating, and i think i prefer the feel of a cable clutch anyway) and when i was leaving at the end of the day they were getting the H6 ready to go into the car... the H6 injectors (tiny things that they are... like 280cc or something) don't have a fuel return, so alan was fabricating one when i left...

now i'll have to leave it up to Al or Miles to update this thread as i won't be able to take pics...

lol Luke, like you don't know :P I'm a lazy auto cruiser and I've no regrets with that decision.

Tristan, have you kept the GX badge? Maybe wanna find yourself a "2.2L" badge with the words "honest officer!" after it :D

as you can see i'll have the H6 engine cover... so i'm gonna go and find an "H6 3.0" badge... :P

Damn that's some speedy work. Coming together nicely Tristan.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

Engine on stand getting prepped for fitment and stripped of wiring and inlet.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Modified fuel rails. EZ30R has a returnless fuel system as std so we have added a return fitting to the rails to go to a conventional regulator.

Posted Image

Had to modify the lower radiator support panel to allow the GDB alloy radiator to fit. If you can't tell what's been changed then I must have done a good job.

Posted Image

Engine in.

Posted Image

Posted Image

EZ30R has drive by wire electronic throttle as std. We have replaced the E-throttle with a 4l falcon unit. This was chosen for a few reasons. It has the same size throttle blade as std, it has a simple tps and built in idle control motor and is readily available for little cost. I fitted a new idle control motor to avoid any tuning problems from failing old parts. Big bonus with this was that it actually bolted straight on. I was measuring it up to get an adaptor made and it is almost the same bolt pattern, a couple of mm out. Cools.

Posted Image

Manifold on checking clearances for throttle.

Posted Image

Vipec V88 arrives tomorrow and the wiring will begin in earnest.

Nice Al! Tristan man, bet you can't wait to get this sucker back :) By the way, Tristan - I've got a front strut brace coming up for sale if you're interested. White line. I'll talk to you more about it at tomorrow's meet.
