Al. Why cable clutch?

It's not a turbo gearbox so clutch actuation is optional. Hydraulic clutch actuation is a lot more troublesome than cable. The change to hydraulic is so it is self adjusting, not because it pushes the clutch in better.

I guess you would also need to mount the master/slave cylinders too to go hydraulic... do the gen2's have somewhere to do this? I have never looked too be honest.

The RX has a hydraulic clutch, so yes there is somewhere to mount it!

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

Progress.

Inlet manifold on, throttle cable anchor bracket made.

Posted Image

Got a box full of bends and flanges to make the extractors. Ended up short changing myself on the mandrel bends so only got one made today.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Drivers side headers done. Went with 31" long primaries after some googling. They obviously aren't 100% equal length but are within an inch of each other. The secondary pipes will meet behind the gearbox.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Couldn't do anymore with the headers without more mandrels so I moved on to the radiator. The radiator is a 50mm alloy GDB impreza unit. We chose this because it is a down flow design which suits the dual top hose setup of the EZ30 engine.
I had to cut off the single 38mm top hose outlet and weld on two 28mm outlets. I had a couple of outlets machined up out of alloy pipe. One sits inside the original outlet and the other cuts into the top tank. Welded them both on and welded up the drain bung and header tank bleed as neither are needed.

Done. Got a couple of hoses from Repco to do the job. Had to cut and sleeve one to get the length right. One is an L series leone, the other is corolla AE92 and the bottom is a trimmed down V8 commodore.

This arrived late this arv. Am reading the manual atm. Looks good and the manual is excellent.

Dang that's some speedy work. Love the throttle cable bracket, looks pretty much factory. Do you focus on 1 car at a time Al, or are you also making similar amounts of progress on other cars at the same time?

All are you going to merge the exhaust, or run it as a twin system right to the tip??

we're just going to run it into the 2.25" exhaust that's on the car... the fartyness shouldn't be there, and 2.25" should me more than enough for the 3 liter...

if it restricts power when it's on the dyno, i'll look into it more, but for the time being, we're sticking with the one that's on there...

If it were mine, id definitely be going bigger than merging them into a single 2.25. Put an X pipe in there and run it twin right through!

LH headers being welded to flange plate and collector inner welded. The flange is bolted to a 10mm plate to minimise warping.

Posted Image

All done.

Posted Image

The mandrels are all black pipe so will rust pretty quickly without protection. A can of heatproof paint does the job.

Al, do you think it would gain anything from a twin system? I know how it effects V8's. I'd apply the same theory to the h6 and expect similar results. Do you think it would have the same effect?
