Something Al said on RSLC intrigued me.

needs just a little more TURBO

Shame it's not being opened up.

Would be nice to see what a NA EZ30 could do with lightweight internals, heavier valve springs and a 10000rpm limit.

Would need custom cams though, the NA cams will restrict it.

I think I may have just figured out what my conversion will be :P

Better of buying a H6 Liberty with the 6 speed and strapping on your turbo. If they think it'd blow out that much dorrah on a conversion. Papa had one about a year ago for a while, it had leather, sunroof, all the niceties, get a second hand one for around 30-40k and then just work it. But it all depends on what you're driving now.

And Tristan this looks good mate, glad it's working out so fast and easily for you.

NA EZ30 with lightweight internals and 10k rpm redline...

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It doesn't have a resonator anymore, it was 2" ID so I binned it. The cat would do as much as it did without choking the top end. If a H6 turbo sounds good to anyone then I would definitely agree with Nik044. Get a Gen 4 3RB manual to start with. Everything is there already so the cost of building the car is substantially reduced. I recently quoted an Ozlib chap to do this job and it worked out around $22k for a built engine with rods, pistons, studs etc, GT35R, intercooler, exhaust, retune, injectors, new clutch etc. An 05 3RB can be had for $25k so you can have an under 5yo car with lazy 300kw atw, tough drivetrain, factory manners and comfort for $50k

Cool, you were getting black anyway. :)

Anyhoo, I wired up the V88 today. 67 wire loom, I didn't use that many of them though.
Took a full day to get it to a usable state. Started by making notes on what the inputs and outputs would be assigned to and whether the wires needed for them would remain in the car or go out to the engine bay. I seperated the wires that needed to stay inside the car. These were for things like ecu power, fan control, tacho, A/C request and relay and fuel pump relay control.

Posted Image

After getting a position reference for wiring length so the loom would reach inside the car to the ecu location I then chopped up the original engine loom and pulled out all the plug connectors that were needed. I then joined the V88 loom to the engine loom connectors.
This took about 6 hours. The EZ30R has 4 control solenoids for cam lift and timing, one crank and two cam position sensors, 6 injector and ignitors, a map sensor, tps, water temp, intake temp, idle control and cannister purge solenoid. It all adds up. There's also the power and ground network.
Here's the pieced together harness. It is one piece from the engine to the ecu. The ecu plugs are then routed out into the LH guard under the fuse box and up the guard into the LH A pillar wiring grommet and down to the std ecu location.

Posted Image

Once the harness was routed into the car(this required dash and fan box removal) I could then make a connector for the power supplies and control wires that go to the original loom.

Posted Image

Then I powered up the loom sans ecu and checked all the power supplies were present. All good. Plugged in the ecu and updated the firmware via the latest software. Went through and set the triggering and settings for sensors and input/outputs. Had a couple of q's about some settings so I rang Mark at Godzilla and he walked me through it over the phone. Half hour later and we are all sorted.
Hung up from Mark and looked at the time, 5.15pm. Fark, have to pick my 3yo up from Kindy 15 mins ago.

Shut the door and picked up my Son, the end.

'sif. Did a final check and craked the engine over again.(had already cranked it to get oil pressure earlier).
Gave a splutter or two. Upped the total injector ms from 10 to 15 and gave it another kick.
Fired up and idled nicely. Gave it a few revs. Nice.
Vipec/Link, good.

What's left? Thermo fan install. Wiring tidy up and insulation. Intake pipe fabrication. Some tuning to get it drivable. It sounded good, not as loud as my car. The Vipec is great and Mark at Godzilla is a champ. Very impressed so far.
