So I redesigned my slider. The old one was rubbish. Jerky, didn't slide properly, and made the footage way too shakey.

Anyway, here is Slider v2.0. I'll most likely design a new track for it in a few weeks, as the one I have now is a bit warped, but yeah, a million times better already. I used wardrobe wheels with floating bearings for moar smoothes. At $22 for 2 wheels, they aren't cheap, but the end result was worth it.

Also about to order a Weifeng WF717 tripod with a fluid pan head for ultra smooth pans. Again, at $200, not cheap, but they compare fairly similar to a $400ish Manfrotto equivelent. Has anyone had any experience with the Weifeng stuff?

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. Seriously cubts,  :fork: right off.

And heres a quick test vid I done out in the backyard with Duke.

Most of those shots are fully zoomed in using an 18-200 lens, so I'm pretty happy with the stability even on full zoom. The "dolly" itself is perfect, now I just need to change the rail, as the rail is slightly warped causing it to shake when going quicker. Watch in 720.

Funnily enough, I have an old remote controlled helicopter that I snapped the tail off, that I was thinking about hooking up to a conveyer belt system. Variable speed via remote control ftw

Also, could you re use the angle by spinning it and using the pointed edge for the runner? Or is it wavy aswell?

Well the issue is that the cabinet rail is around 2mm thick, and the wheels need a ~4mm thick runner to fit nice and snug. There is about 2mm of free play at the moment, which is causing the instability AFAIK.

Plus, I wouldn't mind having a longer rail.

Well my slider is now height adjustable. And I've added an external mic for better sounds with less wind noise

Windows Movie Maker sucks... downloading buying After Effects :P

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.
