Sounds like a top bloke, I didn't realise you hadn't even been there a year! You got a great deal!!!
He must really respect the work that you did for him.
I still don't respect him. The other full timer there was his MRS sister. She was useless and was always asking me for help. But when the business is going downhill she keeps her job.

Sux when that happens...
Fair enough.
Well looks like I'm not getting anything else out him. What a cock he turned out to be. Not my mate anymore.
But yeah, tax is shite... this is what happens when you get paid a bonus too, you see half or more than half of it disappear even before you get it, goes to tax, then you got to do you tax return properly to get most of it back...
Good thing for you is financial year is almost over, so you will get what is owed to you in about 2-3 months time...

Will be a nice little refund for you there

Outrage... this is the kinda story A Current Affair will be all over...Said in a whiney bitch voice:
"They forced me to take off my pants...sob sob... and then they made me get it up......waaaahhhhh... then they all took turns of putting it in their .....waaaaahhhh OMG mummy why did this happen to me????"

True. Same thing happened last year. I had over 200 hours annual leave from another job. Got boned on the final payment with tax but got most of it back at tax time.
I just need to get back into work. Over this crap.

It depends on how close you are to June 30... lucky for you, its not far away, but if this happened in July or August, you'd have to wait a year for your refund...

Wouldn't be fun in your situation mate... hoping you find a good job soon... and leave all this crap behind you...
Oh man.... so many things I want... even have a Mile high club experience... LOL!
Lightsabres...

It's not like you're getting screwed over, Harry. I'd be tickled pink if I were you. He is well within his rights to tell you to take a long walk off a short jetty. Good that he's been a fair and reasonable bloke about it.
Don't get me started on family in business.
like Nik said you are getting a pretty good deal. unfortunately alot of places will really screw you over big time with redundancies and the like, especially when you havent been there a year. from my understanding you really got a good deal out of him! depending on what award you are on, you arent entitled to paid leave, yet alone leave loading until a minimum of 1 years employment, but alot of bosses can be pretty good about it and waive it. i got screwed over big time when i got made redundant from a job a few years ago. i got literally nothing out of them and had alot of things thrown back in my face. it turned real ugly real fast.
RE his mrs sister, unfortunately with alot of things these days its not what you know its who you know (sports are a great example of this, but i wont go there!)
his probably just keeping her to keep his missus happy
happy wife, happy life as they say!

It was a job where there was never a good time to get leave or the boss was to stingy in signing off on it. Thus why I had so much saved up when I left.

Haha I pretty much have NO annual leave, if I was to made leave I would be paid out $448 (for annual leave) hahaha.
We get made to use our leave so that it doesn't build up.. if it reaches over like 100 hours or so without a reason (like going on a planned holiday for a month) they will call up and ask which week are you taking off in the next month. No excuses you have to take some leave.

Just one more tiny piece of advice, if you are still planning on going back and forth with him for more money, you might not want to have him as a reference on your CV.
I don't think I'm gonna get anything else from him so gonna just forgot about him. He gave a written reference but I'm gonna take him off the resume anyway.
