Damn, that's a fair flow rate increase! Fair call, I still have the old 00 JDM one as well, and you are right, there are lots of differences, but thought I'd offer. Would be interested, but can't afford any time soon unfortunately. Between bathroom renos and the need to replace bits on the car like wheel bearings, I can't afford much at all.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

Hey Josh,

Just a few questions if you don't mind.

How much of the half cut did you use ? ie ABS system, body control module & Ac / heater box assy.

I have the correct diif ratio with my cut so that should not be a problem.

Any other parts that gave you any grief ?

Hi mate

At the end if the day I didn't use a whole heap from the half cut. ABS, body control and heater core I didn't use as my outback ones were in better nick. It's a bit if a mix and match/take it as it comes game. If the half cut components are in better condition use them, but obviously there will be some things that are not interchangeable (really only exhaust/wiring/vacuum related parts).

It's all pretty self explanatory.

Double and triple check the final drive ratios though. I thought I got mine right but ended up with a 4.44 trans in my cut which didn't match my 4.11 outback rear diff.

Enjoy mate - a lot of satisfaction in a project like this!

Thanks for the above info.

The halfcut diff is a CF type ( 4.44 LSD) and the gearbox is a TY754VBAAA once again 4.44

So it should be all good.

So you are getting the rear diff with the cut?

That's exactly what I've got. The outback rear diff is 4.11 though so I had to swap to the matching 4.44 rear LSD which didn't come originally with the cut.

Are you delifting when you do the conversion or are you leaving it standard height?

Sorry if you've already done a delift - I'm not really up-to-date with where your at. Do you have a build thread?

Yes the diff came with the cut.

I will do a full delift, it has GTB billys @ the moment.

A few people have said I should have a build thread.

I know I'm fkn slack.

The Melb crew know what's been done so far.

Knock up a quick build thread mate and keep us up to date. I'm particularly keen to see how you go!

A couple of pics I found - mostly before/during the overhaul.

I'll get some more pics shortly to show how it is now, though there's still plenty to do!

I'm really happy with how it's running at the moment aside from a bit of a hormonal clutch pedal. I think from memory I'm still using the original outback master cylinder, which may not pair well with the pull type clutch. I assume the STI master cylinder is more robust than the outback one - I think I have one in my shed somewhere so I'll swap them shortly.

Aside from that, all ready for E85 now. Just need to sort the P98 tune then adjust for E85.

I'm still running in the new clutch so cant really demonstrate launch control yet. 11psi at 3800rpm with the clutch still flat on the floor promises to be a bit of fun, but won't be very forgiving on the new clutch!

The Eculabs multi maps function will be pretty handy. It's so easy to change maps (just a switch) and when you turn the key to accessories the tacho points to a number to show you which map number you are running. There is a youtube video on it somewhere.

Watch this space.

Does look good man. Have a close look at the car bra too - the 2 lips on the top centre will probably be obstructing most of your TMIC airflow. Might be worth considering cutting them back for long trips. Could be the angle of the pics too though!

Where abouts was the photo taken if you dont mind me asking?

We're just camping at Taylorville (just out of Waikerie) on the river.

There're no restriction on the airflow at all. The lip just stops the car bra flapping. The only restriction on the intercooler is the amount of bugs it sucks in! The zero sport splitter works well too - the bugs are spread very evenly! ;)

I should have probably put the time in and raised the coilovers though before I left home as it's pretty low. I've got another 2.5-3 inches I can raise them.
