Hey guys, just throwing this idea out there. i have only been a memeber of suby club for a month, if that and i love the site and I am 100% for helping it grow and doing what i can to make it happen. Hencforth i am putting forward and idea. I am not sure how this would work, but It would be good if we could set up a paypal account for donations for things like stickers, members cars, subaru spotted cards, site maintenance/designs for site and logos and whatever else the administrators deem it should go to for the benefit of the club.

It could be a simple as donate or pay as much as you want with a minimum amount due to paypal fees. If a donation is over i.e. $5 or $10 we could have a sticker or card sent out as a thanks. Just an idea or it could be just a straight donation. Every 4 months the Admins/committee release a spreadsheet/outline of incoming donations and what they have been put towards so as so to members at ease to as what the money has been put towards and maybe encourage people to donate.

Just an idea, i know when i have cash id donate a bit to help it grow and make it a smoother process.

Thoughts/changes/ideas?

I'd be in for donations...

I've been wondering for a while how this site gets hosted and who pays for it and stuff...

Dylan, care to enlighten us?

G'day.

I accept donations, just make it out to:

"The Dylan-really-wants-to-get-a-mad-half-cut-for-his-gen2 fund"

:)

No, in all seriousness.

We do appreciate ideas and suggestions for this sort of thing, the best way that you can help out is to buy a sticker , stick it on and rep the club - and tell everyone you know. Helping to organise and share events will help us grow. We are in the process of organising some other merchandise (shirts etc..) which help the club. We don't want to accept 'donations' as such, buying stickers and other gear helps us grow the site - all proceeds are used to keep SubyClub going.

Licensing for the software (and on-going support costs) are covered by sticker purchases, the website itself is hosted on some of Paul's (twinturbosubaru) equipment, bandwidth and storage are all looked after by him.

Hope this helps, I'll probably talk with Aek and get him to pop his head in here - he has done a lot for SubyClub in the marketing department, organising events, running the SC instagram page, sharing things on Facebook etc.. He has also worked very hard to get the stickers in place and continues to work to get merchandise and alternate sticker designs organised.

Hope this information helps, we really appreciate your enthusiasm and we are very grateful that we can continue to run SubyClub without the need for on-going membership fees or on-site advertising.

Dylan

Thanks Dylan, I think shirts would be an awesome  idea to be honest. Having them made up in a few different colors and styles even some singlets. If i get any spare time i might try and make up a few designs.

The main reason i put this idea out is because being a member of a volunteer based association at university i know the hours of work that go into something like this that you dont really get paid for, not that I mind but sometimes its painful doing some of it out of your own limited back pocket. As long as people arn't too out of hand for the running and its covered by the purchases of the stickers then that is awesome. (in saying that, theres only so many stickers one can buy for his car ;) so new products and merchandise will be awesome and ideal.)

so everyone support the site by coming up with merchandising ideas and designs for them. its all good to have the idea but we have to act on it to get it done and working.

thanks, wes

I've spoken to Aek about this before in the past as I was looking to chuck some money in the kitty so to speak, but as Dylsauce mentioned above, the sticker costs are the main source of being able to run the site.

If you want to donate, just buy 41 stickers, and 7 jumpers, and hand them out to your mates.

Cheers,

Shaz

It's not about you looking at Nik. It's about Nik watching you.
