Mad.
Heaps of people around here have done the same. Definitely have a read through their threads to see what lasted from the original car and what needed replacing.

You will be able to run 150kW if you don't go around launching every set of lights and trying to do mad doeys in the dirt.

Would be cheaper than getting power out of an N.A

depending on the engine/chassis combo, a turbo conversion shouldn't need to be engineered...
have done half a dozen ej20t conversions, havn't bothered with engineering for any of them, no probs with rego either.

In Vic you dont need engineer's. As long as that car came out with that spec capacity engine its just a simple engine number change.

I'm in nsw, I think the rules are, to put on a turbo it the shape (subaru bh) has to have a turbo spec model, I know there were no Australian delivered gen 3 turbos but maybe they would consider an outback a bh?
I dont believe this correct... goes on engine capacity... doesnt matter if its turbo charged or not...
tmh983 and Shaz have done a ej20t conversions with no problems with rego, simple engine number change...

Wasn't there a bloke on rexnet that was running about 200kw through his stock RS impreza gearbox? Think he couldn't afford a 6 speed at the time of his ej207 conversion so he just ran that until he could afford it, was doing plenty of runs on the drag strip and it lasted no problems from memory. I'll see if I can find his thread and post it up
Yeah reaper or something was his name...i think hes pulled that motor down for a 2.5 build now??
i thought the rs boxes were pretty much on par with the wrx box aswell?

Wow, I forgot how full of oxygen thieves Rexnet is.
You have got to be driving like a cock to break a 5speed, I've broken one.
That was due to a hard second change with a heavy duty clutch.
It all depends on what you want out of the car, If you wanna be cheap and see how long it lasts, Fair enough, It would be a pain in the ass having to re-do everything later wouldn't it?
If you want it to last while giving it a hard time with extra power/torque, Rebuild the 5speed with stronger internals or take the step up to a 6speed.
I've been down both those roads and I would take my built, close ratio 5 speed over my 6 speed any day of the week.
Do it once, Do it right.
