It's a drop in for Gen 3s. The only thing you can't use is the filter sock. You have to reuse the standard one or find an aftermarket replacement.

I thought the DW65c was for the late model Subaru's? Does Pro Speed have kits for the older generations?

According to AM Auto this particular pump is a direct fit in the Outback. I will let you know how direct fitting it was once I have installed it. I will be bypassing the fuel filter anyway as I have installed the under bonnet one from the Foz, much easier to service.

It was like Christmas all over again today with two packages arriving in the mail, my silicone hoses for connecting up the BOV and intercooler to throttle body (more on that tomorrow) and my wiring harness all ready to install from AM Auto.

Didn't muck around, straight after work this afternoon I pulled it out of the box ready to install.

P1010355.jpg

You can see here they have spliced in the fuel pump controller from the Foz and left me enough wire to run it back to the fuel pump.

P1010356.jpg

I started by securing it in the centre and worked my way out from each side, wish I took more photos when removing it

P1010360.jpg

Pulled it through and in behind the fender

P1010361.jpg

This is where I got to today, A/C and heater back in, got to re-connect the steering column next and then put the dash back in.

Nice work. Really on the home stretch now!

I found installing a bit quicker and easier than removing the loom for some reason. Won't take you long now.

Top job so far!

Took me a while to get the heater back in, it didn't want to go right back because of the thickness of the harness behind it and its still not perfect, I'm pretty sure its in the right spot but you never know.

Yeah not much space at all behind the heater core. I found it hard to close that white retaining box around the loom.

Replace the pollen filter while you have the dash in bits too man. Makes life lots easier.

Cheers,

Ben

So all my silicon hoses and joiners have shown up so I could connect up the BOV and intercooler to throttle body. This is what I ordered.

P1010365.jpg

I bought this heater hose a while a go because it had the nice tight bend I needed to line up the BOV, its from a Ford Falcon I think.

P1010369.jpg

Then using the silicon hose reducers and joiners I was able to get it all plumbed up.

P1010370.jpg

Then the throttle body connection

P1010375.jpg

P1010378.jpg

I was toying with the idea of trying to fit one of those plastic engine covers off an EZ30 to neaten things up, like this one, would cover up where it says H6 though. Thoughts?

06-09ez30cover.jpg

or this 06 Foz cover but maybe its not long enough to cover the intercooler.

XTenginecover2006SG.jpg

Back inside the car it was one step forward, two steps back. Turns out I had routed the part of the harness the connects to the ECU wrong so I had to pull the heater back out and fix that up. Once the harness was in the right spot the heater went back in real easy funnily enough :)

I should have ordered a new pollen filter but I didn't and the show must go on so I pulled it out and gave it a good vacuum instead. Came up alright actually.

P1010380.jpg

After that was done I re-installed the crash bar and steering column and then it was time for dinner.

Nice work. Looks like its coming along quite quickly!

It will also be worthwhile hose clamping the IC and blowoff valve pipes - As tough as silicone piping is to get on/off, 15psi will find a way out pretty fast.

Yeah will do, that was just a mock up. It all has to come off again so I can route the harness through the engine bay.

Ah, cool bananas man, dont mean to pick at things, just trying to point them out so you dont forget something and then have to pull the whole thing to bits again to correct it. Certainly not doing out of nastiness. My hat goes off to you, that is some serious work you're doing there.

Some solid progress today. Started by getting all the wiring connected up in the engine bay, all went smooth except for one connector which goes down to the gearbox. I forgot to tell AM Auto I was using the dual range box and they have wired in the connector for the Foz gearbox. I think I can undo where these bolt into the box and swap them that way, not sure yet. They are two large nuts at the rear of the box, can anyone tell me what they are and if these could be removed and swapped?

P1010192.jpg

Next I got all my radiator hoses connected up, top hose was a challenge because the hard metal coolant pipe which runs accross the top of the motor comes out at the wrong angle on the Foz motor to suit my radiator (photo explains it better) so to gain a little extra length on my top hose I installed a temp sensor connection and was able to make it work.

P1010387.jpg

With the wiring in the engine bay all connected up I got back inside the car and started connecting up the harness, still kicking myself for not taking more photos as I removed it :(

Everything was cleaned before installing again, it makes these hard to reach places much easier to clean with the dash out

P1010389.jpg

This is where I got up to, there are some connectors that don't connect to anything and I'm sure I have missed a couple. It helps that I have a wrx with no carpet in it to refer to when I can't work out the routing or connections.

P1010391.jpg

Finally I have one connector on the passenger side that I can not figure out where it should go? I vaguely remember unplugging one in that region and thinking it will be hard to find where to plug that in later.

Here is the offending connector

P1010392.jpg

and a shot looking up behind the glovebox from where it drops down

P1010393.jpg

It would be great if someone with an outback or Lib could i.d. it for me and tell me where it should connect.

Is it the one for the blower motor or heater?
I vaguely remember one when I stripped it out for sound system..

I think its something to do with the heater but can't for the life of me see where it connects. You can see in my last photo I have one connector on the heater already.

Loving the progress!

Completely off topic, but does that wrx mat fit perfectly in the drivers footwell?

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

It fits fine, not sure if perfect but it fits flat on the floor.

I know there was one for the blower and one for the heater up the back of it?
Cubt plugs.. haha.

On another note, can I have your wrx mats? Haha. I have a variety of standard impreza ones =/
