EXACTLY what I was thinking Morgs. Going on a double date sorta thing all around Australia. That would be the best way. Best of both worlds at any given time. There are only a few friends I would choose for such a long journey. Many others, although they are my best mates, have slight bad habits that would piss me off to the maximum.
