just took a grav reading now Bretty, has been bubbling away nicely all day sitting on 20 degrees (I have it in my keg fridge to keep the temps down)..
1.040..... I have to say... it actually tastes pretty decent in the state that it is in haha....

1.042 OG will still make a tasty beer. With that mash temp it probably wont go past about 1.010 unless you havent had a particularly homogenous mash ( ie hot spots and colder spots).
I cant remember what the calculation is for SG. But im going to have a stab and say youll probably get about a 4% beer.

76 degrees for this one, basically running a hose from the kettle into the mash tun that plugs into a hose that runs down the guts of the mash with holes in it so that the water distributes evenly across the grain bed, drawn from the bottom of the tun to the kettle using my pump and topping up enough to keep the water level consistent until it runs out... took about 40 mins of that..... hmmm... now that I write it.... I feel as though my memory is shaky and I have done something wrong...

Glad youre having some success with the CG stuff Adam.
I used loads of green clean on the interior of that Pajero. Used it as a carpet shampoo, a headlining cleaner, and cleaned all the interior plastics with it. Its pretty versitile.

I should mention that when I take the temp readings (I did three throughout the mash in) I take the reading across about 4 spots and at different levels to check exactly for that, and I never got more than 1 degree variation with it.

I am not against a 4.2% beer to be honest... if it is tasty I am more than happy for it to lack the punch.... fork, I drink enough as it is - lower alcohol can't be a bad thing!

On top, sparged with 22L which is more than I normally use but I normally seem to be transferring like 17-18L so wanted a bit extra...... reckon that could be it just there? that is probably an extra 4-5L over what I would normally use.......
