Mum just came in and told me some sad news about nan, she has dementia and has become worse over the years, and is in a home, however it would seem that she has had enough, she's refusing to eat and drink anything and just wants to go peacefully.

It's news that I have had thought over for the last few years to try to desensitise myself to, however it hasn't worked

Shit i missed this mate.

My Nan went exactly the same way. When i came back from England she didnt recognise me, and just thought Vicky and I were some nice couple that were living with my mum and dad. She thought my Dad, her son, was her brother. And thought my Pop was due home any day now. He'd passed away about 20 years earlier.

She did the same, passing on food and water.

She finally passed away last year. I say finally because she had no idea who she was, where she was and didnt recognise any of her family for a good 2 years before she passed.

It was so sad when she passed away, but to be honest she hadnt been with us for years, which meant we had all pretty much dealt with it.
