That's a Hors D'oeuvre, though. Which implies a larger meal will follow. A canape doesn't make the same promise of larger meals surfacing.

I think Shaz might be acknowledging an entree as food in this scenario. 

But an Hors D'oeuvre is essentially an entree, whereas a canape is just 'finger food' designed to be eating in one bite without cutlery or mess.

I had an epic barramundi main for dinner last night.

Canapés (haha) were - vego sushi, which was actually really tasty. Panko prawns, crab pinwheels, Cajun chicken sticks.

Entree was either pork belly on some sort of purée and a little bit of green shit or crab tower with avacado, tomato, and garlic and chilli aeoli.

Mains were lamb rump with some stuff or grilled barramundi on a bed of potatoes with chives, artichokes, cress and a grilled leemon!

Desert was cupcakes and some other sweet shit. (I don't eat deserts)

I had the pork and barra. Epic!
