I reckon the A-C styling was the last of the true "JDM" look.

Nah, I'm just horsing around - lots of love for DE. Actually, I just remembered my BH9 was a RevD. I do wonder what was so "broken" on the earlier engines that they had to make so many changes - turbos, injectors, other engine niff naff, ECU, etc. Don't they drive about the same?

Bit of a boring update. Getting a few interior bits sorted out. Later spec silver transmission cover and a new handbrake labia!

Where'd you get the handbrake labia from Jimbo? Wouldn't mind a brand newy for the Wagon
I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. Seriously cubts, right off.

Just down here at Pick and Pay (Blacktown), flogged the gear out of an Outhouse. Got to the counter and the dude was like "just a crisp tenner m8". Stoked.
I'll drop by down there again when I get time and see if I can grab another undamaged one, Shaz. Gen2 right? I think there's a few down there.

All good man, I thought you might be able to get them new.
I reckon I could knock a new one up using some stuff from clark rubber. Maybe I might do that this weekend. Thanks for the offer though boss!

I have an undamaged one from a 99 forester you're welcome too. I'll shoot you a pic over the weekend so you can confirm it looks the same as yours.

Well, she's forked. Smallest timing belt idler dropped and the belt went yippee and likely took everything with it.
Can't confirm the damage until I pull it apart and try reassemble it all, though I feel that would be fruitless. Won't fire but everything turns with the belt, likely the damage has already been done.
So over this shit.

Oh no!!!
Shit go Jimbo, sorry to hear.
Fingers crossed that it's not as bad as first thought, but as you said, you won't know until it's apart.
I should just convert to single, right?As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

Knowing these engines, it's likely dead.

Why did it drop,
Faulty idler ?
Looks it worked it's way out of the block or snapped. Can't tell yet.
Mark, best case scenario is to secure some GTB heads and put them on the short block, providing the valves haven't done too much damage to the pistons, if any.
Depends what's easier to find, a rev A-C long block and a new timing belt (can reuse about 99% of the kit I put in before Xmas), ready to drop in or the heads by themselves. I can't afford to buy a halfcut and go that way. I really don't have alot of money and this will dip into a large chunk of our savings.
All this $$ for a f'king $20 part.

Pretty sure Ty has a A-C 208 in his garage! I believe it spun a bearing but heads could still be good. Might be worth getting in contact with him

I hope you end up keeping it to original specs.
Is the WRX engine swap an option you'd be considering at this point?
