Slapped a few coats of VHT Aluminium straight over them. Then popped in new Bendix Ultimate's and happy days. These particular calipers were in storage for a while and clean already so i was ready to roll.

I usually do a (eBay) search for "Subaru Legacy" in the Toys and Hobbies category then do a worldwide search and reduce it to "Model Building". This one was tucked into another category so missed it originally. This particular one is a FUJIMI 1/24 kit. I found a whole heap i never finished and partially finished at my Dads house when cleaning up my old room. Keen to get back into it but had throw my old paints/spray paints and brushes out as they were pretty ratty.
This is the best one i have done so far and i did it about 7 years ago i think! It's a bit dirty and dusty from sitting on a shelf in my old room for that long.
I have a few tricks and tips i have found from searching the web that i'm going to use for the next few i have. Such as actually masking the body when doing window seals etc instead of just trying to be steady handed! And not using superglue to put them together! Can also get a special modelling glue to use with the windows and headlights to avoid the glue hazing them. Will also file them back better for a tighter panel gap too.

Some interesting stuff! Looking through the original paperwork about the GTB and it's really fascinating. I have the cars full registration history up until export. Some strange stuff goes on in Japan.
Here's the original dealership it was delivered to in September 1999 and first registered.
From there, it looks like it spent 4-5 years on the lot at Saga Subaru before it was purchased by a T. Kinoshita for his Nishiuchi Automobile Sales lot in August 2004. I find it odd it sat for so long at Saga, maybe a demonstrator? Mr Kinoshita looks like he changed address in July 2007. He stayed in Kochi City but moved address.
It was then purchased in August 2007 by a white guy named D. Freeman. It's odd as going into his name it was just an "alteration" but not an ownership transfer until a year later in August 2008. Mr Freeman looked like he had had enough in Japan and the car was scheduled for export in February 2008. It didn't do many km's over there, from July 2006 to July 2008 it had only done 21100 km's. It's last reading in Japan was 122400 km's.
Upon further reading, looks like Mr Freeman leased the car from Nishiuchi Auto's. One inspection certificate from August 2007 lists him as the "User" and Nishiuchi Auto Sales as the "owner", same with a certificate from July 2008. Perhaps he got finance and paid it out?
Eventually he brought the car over in 2008. It was passed and approved in November 2008 under approval from the Australian Government. Only thing that needed to be done to pass it for compliance was the addition of child safety restraints in the rear roof.
From there on, can't see much else. Must say, Japan have a really good way of keeping track of cars.
Well, there's a bit of a history lesson tonight. If anyone knows how things run in Japan car ownership wise, i would love to know more!
Hey Jimbo,
nice to meet you.
You arent going to believe this. Im 'D. Freeman' who brought in your car.
I lived in Japan for 5 years but only owned this car for the required 12 months specifically to bring it back to AUS because I knew this car is only importable via personal import and I had wanted one for ages.
Here is a link to some pics of the car before I brought it back - https://www.dropbox....vDg3is6U225Qn-a
Enjoy.
The deal with Nishiuchi Auto almost prohibited me from bringing the car back. I did not even know when I bought it that Nishiuchi remained the owner right up until I went to set it up for export and I couldnt deregister it without Mr Nishiuchi's consent. After that I wrote an email to DOTARS asking if the fact that Nishiuchi was still the owner the whole time would stop me from having accrued the requisite 12 months ownership in order to do a personal import. They told me it was fine as long as I got a letter from Mr Nishiuchi stating why he remained owner after selling me the car - which I did. In short - the reason why he did this was because it made paperwork easier for him in the first place as he assumed I couldnt do my part of the paperwork since I was a gaijin (foreigner). Lesson learned.
The car was a bit neglected when I bought it so I had it totally restored at a local subaru dealer before shipping it ive got copies of the receipts which you now own - I can translate them for you if you like.
She had a small amount of damage on the drivers side seat bolster and from memory there were also a couple of unfortunate ciggy burns in the interieor as well.
The car was just used as a commuter to take me from Nahari town to Kochi city on weekends and stuff like that since I lived in the sticks.
The guy I sold it to in Seaforth may have regassed the shocks and done something with the radio but that would be all. The rims were stock silver when I let go of the car but the black matte looks pretty badass i guess.
Wow I cant tell you how stunned I was to find this car again on this thread. Absolutely blown away. Let me tell you it wasnt easy to let the car go back then so I am glad she ended up with someone who seems to even exceed my passion for these cars.
Stoked
BTW, the reason why I joined this forum is because I am on the lookout for another BH5 GTB wagon from Japan. If you hear of one for sale - please let me know.

Holy crap!!
I should just convert to single, right?As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;
"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"
