Anyway, torqued to spec is just the manuals way of saying 'we couldn't get it any tighter, see if you can'.

Dave!
She's doing well at the moment, needs a good clean in and out but not much to report. Gave her some new rotors and pads up front but I'm still not 100% on the brake feel at the moment. It's firm but very "wooden". May just be the pads, Bendix Ultimates. I upgraded to 4 pots up front but didn't give the rears any attention as the rear rotors were already freshly machined when i took possession. I might throw in some new rear pads for good measure and see how it goes.
The feel is firm but as i said, wooden. Feels overly progressive but not "grabby", you have to apply a fair amount of pressure to slow down but the pedal feel is tight and not spongy. Beyond me, but I'm not liking it.
Apart from the brakes, i haven't had a good chance to give her some love. At the moment I'm currently drafting up some intake mods to make the most of the stock airbox. Going to use some plastic and try make an air guide behind the grill that will funnel air to the airbox tract. The way it looks, air takes a sharp turn behind the grille, pushes out whatever gap is before the tract and whatever is left makes it down the tract. My Gen4 GT-B had an optional (apparently expensive) air-guide bolted on to direct air into the tract.

Also, that GT-B is infact just a facelift GT.
So you don't get the "hot" parts like the EJ20R, 440cc's, better gearbox etc. Interior is a give-away along with the smaller AFM and second hose coming off the secondary BOV "U-Pipe".
Though, it does look to be in really good condition. Provided it's been looked after, it's worth a look considering the price.
What's your budget?

Also has G-Square(aftermarket) side skirts i think.

I thought the interior was a give away but dont know much about Gen2s so glad I asked! The side skirt also looked a bit third party too as Barbachello mentioned.
Yeah, for the price, its probably not a bad runaround. I currently have $15K tied up in a car that I wont mention here for fear of being chucked off the forum.
Its up for sale for the sole reason of getting back into a Gen3 GTB. So yeah when I saw $4500 - thought it might be a good interim vehicle.
Regarding brakes, I noticed a similar 'overly progressive' feeling back when I drove her too. I also had rotors changed out and new brakepads all round but didnt do anything to the 'action'
I spoke to a japanese subaru specialist about it and he mentioned that the brake action on that model is supposed to feel almost 2 stage - with the first half of the action only giving enough breaking power to adjust your speed and the second half starts to grab quite a bit more. Its an exponential curve rather than a linear one.
Ive never had a similar brake action in any other car I have driven - ask Cruisin if he has this expo curve in the feel of his brakes too?
Good luck with the air mod.

My brakes work fine, normal compared to all my other cars.
4/2 pots, DBA GCT pads and standard rotors albeit new all round.
You can buy my GTB as is for 15k.

No intention to just yet but Im always ready to sell should the opportunity arise. 15K is a touch less than it owes me currently.
Sorry Jimbo for getting off track.

Update time!
So today I took on a few little tasks. During a routine interior clean, I noticed a plastic cover behind the glovebox. I took the glovebox out and to my suprise it was the cabin filter. Now I was under the impression early Gen3 didn't have these and it only came out in later revisions. Perhaps all JDM got them? Clarification needed.
So, I pulled that bad boy out. Half a tree worth of leaves came out with it and the pics pretty much tell the story. It was putrid. Probably 16 years old with the car, never been changed. I washed it out and holy smokes, the pics tell the story.
This is it's little cubby.
After it was taken out.
Colour of the water i washed it with.
Clean-er.
Polished my muffler!
Somewhere in it's lifetime, ( i think with the previous owner as he said the rear bar was resprayed ) the rear bar has been re-sprayed but the numpty's did a shite job and didn't cover the muffler up. The Passenger side of the muffler body has purple overspray on the whole side of it ..... tards.

Changed my cabin filter when I bought the car. About $13 from Bursons. AUDM Gen3's got them also hence listed at Bursons.

Jimbo that's the worst pollen filter I have ever seen !!
It bet the A/C works better now.
That wing, man it's big, but it suits the wagon well.
Cars lookin great.

Took a page out of Mark's book and got rid of the horrid "Fried Egg" look in the head and tail light indicators. Used Narva "Phantom" globes, pricey but make a great difference. The design of the A-C headlights doesn't make the globes look as good as the D-E but I'm happy with the results.
I must say too, changing globes out of the wagon taillights is a right pain in the arse as they don't have an access flap behind them. To change a globe you have to remove the entire light assembly. It's only two 8mm nuts but still, after you have it out, you have to remove a plastic side cover to get the globe holders out aswell.
Here's some pics.
This is the headlight before.
And after. Most of the colour seen in the headlight is reflections of shit in my garage.
Taillight before.
Taillight after.
Better out-door shot of the headlight.
Finished up with an application of Maguire's PlastX.
