The next step of this build is engineering the engine swap.

After a discussion with Iain (Marv), I chose my engineer.

Things I need to do for engineering so far:
Return intake back to standard including the resonator (For maximum silence)
Install a GX liberty pee shooter axle back (For maximum silence)
Return the tune to the factory one
Get the car weighed and a ticket from the weighbridge
Get the car brake tested using a PlateTronic tester
Gather all info from the halfcut such as a VIN and engine number
Return to engineer for final inspection/paperwork, All info is given to the RMS and it's done.

Wish me luck with this process. I'm confident yet nervous at the same time. This is the first time I've done this :P

Why does the engine conversion need to be engineered? Subaru have it available in this chassis so I would have thought that's proof enough that it's capable :P

It is proof and the engineer loves that. It still doesn't belong to the car and it bothers me and if I ever got the wrong police officer, I can show them papers and move on with life.

Good luck my man!

Thanks Moogan.

Peace of mind to have it sorted properly.

Was easy here when I put the 2.5 in the Gen2. As they came out with a 2.5L it was a walk in, change engine number over on rego, walk out at VicRoads would be the same here with the H6 in the Gen3.

Yeah. My chassis was originally a 2L and it's now a 3L, The increase in capacity over the limit is the main reason I am getting it done correctly.

It's not like it's the most powerful engine in the world or as if anything has been cut and welded to make it fit. Completely bolt in affair with stopping power to back up the extra power and weight it has.

Another thing to note is that the brakes I'm using don't use adapters, Making them completely legal and ADR compliant. I was asked this question by the engineer as he has seen brembo/wrx 2pot rear installs and the adapters have been used in the rear, They don't comply with ADR's.

Somebody in aus should be making these kits! Easy money.

Kudos to you for doing things properly Cam. It's definitely the way to go. Hopefully you can get it all sorted without any headaches soon.

What's the reasoning behind returning it to factory tune? Surely that wouldnt matter.

emooshuns ?  Though testing that isn't on Cam's list.

Best of luck with this - very interested in how it goes.

The list is pretty small - noise (intake, exhaust), tune (emissions, but no test?), brakes (cursory test ?), change of details.

So from a engineers point of view the spec b brakes need to be approved?

Weird!

You wont have any trouble with the fuz once it's done. Cheering :)

Standard tune will be loaded on as a security measure if they want a sniffer put on it.

Brakes don't need a report, They are a direct bolt on job. They must support the cars new weight though. A brake test proves this.

I did the cruise control dance this morning and installed a Command AP500 unit. Works extremely well. Command units are top notch.

Just what I needed to make this car a proper GTE.

Do you find the cruise control stalk to be a little long for your liking? It just seems like whenever you're turning left, it'll hit your leg. It could just be the angle of the picture.

Yes. Because this is a electronic unit, It is compatible with any turbo car regardless of the tt system or not.
It uses the VSS and TPS wires to work out what's going on instead of vacuum and magnets. Boost friendly!

Gaz, It's connected part of the column. Not the steering wheel silly! That wouldn't work :P

I've got long legs and have heaps of room.
