The calculator gave me a best price of $535, but the renewal from Shannons is $509. (need to have the same car comprehensively insured with them though)

So I'm happy that I'm saving $20+ bucks, anyone know of any other non-mainstream CTP providers? ie: not quoted on the maa website.

You were with NRMA initially?

Yeah that's right.... so now Shannons is charging me 12 months what NRMA wanted for 6, pretty much.

Went ahead and did a Comprehensive policy as well. The full comp was $16 worse off a month than Just Car but I would rather Shannons over any insurer any day. I got a bit of a bundle discount and due to the fact I had help a policy with them before (Gen2)

Nice work. You've gotta try and find all avenues though to make it worth your while and as cheap as possible. So far NRMA have been A LITTLE more expensive than others, but those others aren't as reputable and/or offer as much as what NRMA does. I always do my research every year though to get the best deal for me at that time.

Sucks they can't really help you out but at least you've found a much better deal financially.

This. I've always preferred and been happy with the NRMA as they are only a little more expensive than others most of the time + features/cover a lot more.

However, as I've said before, I'm not paying twice the amount for comprehensive insurance for the same car as I pay for just car with only a few policy differences.

I would happily go back to NRMA if they become cheaper.

They've done the sneaky and made the young age cut off 27 as well which Gaz found out last year....

What I can't understand is how can NRMA charge me (clean history, no claims, 28) $800+ for CTP for 12 months, but Shannons can do a drop over $500 for the same amount of time.

I once rang NRMA to blow off some steam about last years CTP amount, and the knuckle dragger on the phone told me it was because of the age of the car. Bollucks! Considering at the same time, Gaz's CTP was identical to the cent and his car is more than 5 years younger! I told the chick at Shannons (sounded hot, her name was Bonnie) and she was in disbelief they told me that.

The features and cover between the two are not the same.

Mind sharing the PDS of Shannons CTP? I can't seem to find it. You'll see there will definitely be differences.

Most muppets don't do their research and read through the PDS of their policies to know the features etc, all they care about is the price - hence the popularity of Coles insurance.

Ew.

When I had my XR5, I got a quote with Youi. I nearly fell off my chair. If you're 55 and own a Camry and drive at 20k's less than the limit at all times, those guys are for you.

Wow Jim ~$800 for CTP is just ridiculous. And the part about age of the car has to be bullshit as my 91 Legacy and 01 VX both had CTP this year for ~$620 (+5yrs clean, no claims, 27).

Still undecided if I will go full comp or just fire and theft for the legacy as well

I reckon it has a lot to do with the yellow plate affixed to my drivers side strut tower.

What kind of differences are we talking?

If you have a crash, your car gets fixed.

If it's a write off, you get cash.

That's really all that matters with compo insurance?

Fark, insurance companies are just getting ruthless, all ever since the gov. let them all run amok and do their own thing. I reckon the gov. should regulate the pricing again.
