I'm finding loyalty means nothing anymore.

Whoever is cheapest on the day will get the business.

Yep, I've been with CGU for years. Evey year I go to cancel my contract because others are a lot cheaper, all of a sudden, BAM! herpes.

I mean, a newer cheaper contract magically appears.

As soon as she hands it to you, slowly take of your pants, then, while staring her straight in the eyes rub it against the tip of you penis, while continuing your painfully intense gaze whisper to her;

"My eye is watering, this might be a bit hot"

I should just convert to single, right?

NRMA have introduced a new way of calculating your loyalty discount, you should've received the same letter I presume along with your insurance renewal XTFoz... For those that are unsure about it, there is one discount that applies across all eligible policies you have with NRMA. It depends on the number of consecutive years you've been with NRMA as well as the number of eligible policies you have, including the NRMA Motoring & Services Membership. For example, I have been with NRMA for one year and have three policies, so I receive a 7.5% loyalty discount on each of my eligible policies from their next renewal date. I also receive Claim Free Privilege Life. This replaces the No Claim Discount and means I get a 65% No Claim Bonus for the life of the policy regardless of how many claims I make.

At the moment I am receiving a 7.5% discount. 3-4 years it jumps to 10%, then 12.5% after 5-7 years, 15% for 8-9 years and finally 17.5% for 10+ years.

In conclusion and like I stated earlier, I have saved a total of $111.41 to date after being with NRMA for the past year. Whilst it isn't the biggest discount at the moment, the longer you are with them the better. Surely loyalty does pay off?

It's all about location unfortunately.

It's all about location unfortunately.

This. And the specific car in question.

I had the same problem as XTFoz. It wasn't the discount that was the problem. Discount was great, but the actual premium is too damn high!

When it comes to what car, I think they base that on how often that car has been involved in incidents and what not.

Wow.

Again I pay less than both those figures for CTP and Rego combined.

NSW is just a rip off.

$496 for 12 months rego. Mind you, $62 is the actual registration fee, the rest is "Motor Vehicle Tax".

I'm paying just under 1k full comp though RACV on the RS, under 25. Interestingly when I was looking at wagons ausdel wagon was cheaper to insure than sedan and Legacy wagon was cheaper than both.

We're talking Compulsory Third Party insurance. Not sure what you guys have up there?

There's no way out of CTP here in NSW and there's no competition with it either so everyone's prices are very similar. Just another big rip-off in NSW thanks to the NSW government allowing it to be privatised back in the day. Give it a few years and I reckon it will be around the $1000 mark.

So we cough up CTP, then you have your Comprehensive which is about another $1k then rego which is another nearly $500. In about 3 years time, I would have payed more than the purchase price of the car in on-road costs. Ridiculous.
