Going to be a different Christmas this year for our family.

My 95 year old Dad has been in hospital for the last 10 days due to a fall at home. I'm sitting with him now, as he is about to be transferred to an aged care facility.
His dementia has robbed him of recognizing who I am.

Getting old sure does suck..

Mum’s best friend that she’s know from when they were 13yo’s passed away after a long battle with cancer yesterday. She was in her early 70’s - too young. It hit Mum hard as M&D were planning a trip just after Christmas to go see her that one last time...

All the best to you and your family Jase. Alzheimer’s and Dementia, nasty shit to deal with in the later years. Remember the good times rather than hanging on to what could be in the present.

That's sad mate. Early 70's is far too young, but I suppose now she has some peace and friends and family can grieve.

Nah not mine Jase, met a fella who had it set up in Echuca last year before he pulled it down. Took my brumby there for some pics. I couldn’t hang around for some night time shots.

I realised I still haven’t emailed the fella the pics I promised last year (face palm).

Merry belated Chrissy everyone. Hope everyone pulled up ok afterwards. Boxing day is always a big one with my in-laws, so a good time was had over the 2 days. Just recovering today.

Happy belated Christmas and New Year everyone!

 

Spent New Year's watching the fireworks at home after contracting Covid-19 on Boxing Day along with the missus. She copped it and spent two days in bed, I got let off with a runny nose, cough and just feeling a bit lethargic. I also lost my senses of smell and taste which are slowly coming back.

 

Hope everyone's year has started much better than mine has!

That’s nuts! What variant did you cop Gaz? Sounds like it was Omicron, not that I have any experience with it.

And I agree Kong, it’s certainly affecting ppl’s mental health etc now, I think many are at the beginning of burning out soi can only imagine how our Heath care workers are coping.

Going back to school will be “interesting”. I’m already a bit apprehensive about it as I deal with students that really don’t give a flying rats arse about any social distancing protocols etc and they think it’s a laugh when you try to minimise your personal exposure to their actions. Sad times in that regard.

On a different note, I’m having difficulty working out whether I’m in Victoria or Queensland at the moment! The humidity is insane.

Funny that. The value on ours always goes down and they always charge more... it doesn’t seem right!

Happy Oz day everyone. For me it’s not the same with all the hoo-ha over invasion day etc, that’s not the way I see it. Plus Indont get to hang with mates on Australia Day like we used to due to families etc. plus it’s not the same since Tripe J moved the count down due to political reasons. It was an Australian vote and count down on Australia Day before the internet really took hold and made it a world wide vote!

Anyway, the storms we're experiencing have certainly made up for it. Lots of lightening and thunder, plus waves of storms passing by since late afternoon. Simply awesome!

Anyone get flooded out in these Vic storms? That was an epic three days! Loved the constant storm activity because we were fine, humidity was more annoying!
