Cheers bois. Car is already illegal now lel

Bov removed

HKS Super Drager

Boost tee at 14 psi cos no point doing more on a TD04

Pod filter back on

Keep finding excuses to go for a drive now :D. Very lucky that only being stage 3 "going for a drive" is a valid reason to leave the house, just cant get out of the car unless for one of the 4 reasons. Walking 3m for a photo is exercise right?

Looks sick mate. Where did you pull those pods from, are they a standard feature on some Gen2 models? And do you know if they’re like the RS pods - I wouldn’t mind a set for my unit but not willing to pay the excessive price ppl ask for them!

Are you outside the melb metro area to be in the stage 3 area? I thought you lived in the stage 4 area. Anyway, I’m sure you’ve got yourself covered either way.

Can’t wait to be out of lockdown - and see more pics of this thing. I think we need to see how this super dragger muffler looks!

And how does the “little” TD04 go, hits boost early and comes on smooth rather than a punch of boost?

Cheers

If you want dose Barbs, get a small plate made so the BOV isn't technically removed.

They won't be hard to make even if you want to avoid the cost.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it. In process of being stripped and sold off.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon. Scrapped.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. Scrapped.

MY13 BRG, current daily, very nice to drive, small mods to make it even nicer again.

Lucky that you're not in the metro area! I am and live 2.7km from work so barely ever get to boost it unless it warms up forever in the driveway...

Hows the handling? Be awesome to see what its like around the twistys or even a track. Making me want to do the same with my gen4!

The era engine i have theres nothing to plate unfortunately. Its hoses on all sides and out of the intercooler.

Im jusssst outside stage 4. Melton is 4, in Bacchus we're 3. TD04 is alright. I suspect the headers are way too big and losing a lot of velocity for such a small turbo. Boost is still pretty punchy and falls off pretty early but its still boost

Bacchus Marsh eh? When did you make that move? Nice and close to some good 4wdn! Some good climbs and twisties out there too, but most are dropped to 80km/h ;(

Enjoy the stage 3 - we are! Bendigo is still busier than the first round though. I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re thrown into stage 4 with Melb workers coming up here everyday and our number continually climbing :(

Few random pics and stuff from things have been did or doing

HKS actuator heat shield. Probably useless but many cool points
rUaI6RR.jpg

USB socket in the centre console for head unit connections
BqCM9Sl.jpg

Retiring the manual boost controller for a HKS EVC. Removed the stock solenoid and put the HKS one there with a rivnut
lUOIrS5.jpg

Lines are about as neat as you can get with a subaru lol. That pod looks damn ugly but it makes cool noises for now
jPbg44V.jpg

and committed heresy by cutting up an OEM carbon style piece (again) for the controller

No stress about the early stuff dude, instead of a plate, get someone to turn up an ally slug with a thread inside 1/2 of it so you can put a bolt into it and remove it again. More than one way to skin a cat.

HKS shield looks the goods, agree with it doing next to nothing, but it looks cool as! Speaking from experience, you'll want some form of heat shield between the clutch master and the dump/turbo...

Looking good though! Shame about the carbon bits, but you need to make stuff fit!

Cheers,

Ben

Still got the stock B4 one, which I reckon is the GDA style from the bug eyes. Not sure what difference there is between the GC and GD clutch assemblies... Thinking I may just design and make my own.

So after at least a month of not taking the car apart and driving it to work a few times without issue; i took it apart again
TnrdMRz.jpg

oops
9TA7wYD.jpg

Things were going well until i went to test fit the dump pipe, which doesnt fit with the 6 speed :( After way too much time spent hammering it and making it into a 2" dump in places i said fork it and cut the trouble some bits out (most of it)
cg8LJVZ.jpg

Will cobble something together to get the exhaust at least under the car then probably take it to a pro to get it fixed properly. In other news i made a new PS line out of some PTFE AN hose
wqhzpPs.jpg

Thats it fow now

I didnt realise power steering lines could be made using diy braided fittings! I was looking into new lines to help route the turbo H6 up pipe (MCM style). Keen to see how yours go! Can I ask what brand parts you used and a rough cost? Speedflow, aeroflow, raceworks?

I used aeroflow parts. You must use PTFE stuff at least for the high pressure side. I overbought hose expecting to stuff it up but was a lot easier than i thought. I paid $250 for both lines (low pressure in pushlok) but have heaps of hose left over

Did some more things.

Ebay catch cans that are actually mishimoto without the ridonk mark up. 3 ports for the heads, 2 ports for the crank. Mounted where the ABs would go on some rivnuts
tyzrt7z.jpg
MDDcyEl.jpg

Fully mounted the cooler
5oGBr2c.jpg

Copied AM Auto and rather than cutting up the reo mount in the chassis leg till it fits, made some brackets and finally used the welder i got weeks ago to hang it off the front apron. Also made a simple T bracket to hold the top of the cooler off the bonnet latch instead of off the rad support. Yeah its bird shit welding but its doing its job and wont be visible
dAHJPpJ.jpg

Heaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaps more room to get the pipe through and no silicone touching metal
TylPBlU.jpg

Ive had to order another flange in order to space the turbo up 10mm. Doing so gives clearance for the fuel reg adaptor and the oil drain. Given the dump pipe has to be remade thats a non issue and solves bulk problems
