All quiet on the western front mostly. Car is still in 1 piece and trying to drive it when i can. 

Went for an afternoon drive with the misso to The Cascades in Metcalfe the other weekend. Basically what i built the car to do, highway touring with the occasional twisty blast




Been having a fight getting the keyless entry to work. Subaru seemed to have used a fairly complex system involving reverse polarity actuators? Or im wrong who knows. Tried a jaycar kit with no luck, so bought a jap plug n play remote start kit me and a mate thought would also do keyless, it wont. Not without another box. Anyway i now have remote start with is actually damn useful. Can get the car started and warmed up before leaving the house. Plus the system is jdm af and plays music and has a hilarious antenna on the fob. Supposedly has a 3km range when outside but havent tested that yet


The HKS headers are on the slow boat over and i bought some VHS tapes cos why not. Will get them converted to digital so as to not risk destroying them in a player and so Youtube can translate them for me

The Cascades, nice location on the Campaspe if I’m not mistaken. Did you enter Metcalfe via Kyneton past the airfield? When you get close to Metcalfe you hit a nice twisty section that drops into the valley followed by some quick hills and a corner or two. I love that drive and we often take it rather than the freeway (that I find increasingly boring).

I’d recommend the run over Mt Macedon too. But they’ve restricted the speed to 60km/h for knuckle heads that don’t know how to drive. Sadly it’s happening all over the place to keep the lowest common denominator safe (face palm).

Not much else going on in Metcalfe other than the cascades. If you can handle some dirt roads in your ride, Tyrion’s falls is a top spot for a picnic and a swim

Yep through Kyneton, past the airfield and through the valley. Nice little bit of corners.

Macedon is ok but little bit of been there done that now. Nice to get out and see a bit more

Don't tell the insurance about the remote start dude. It's a cool af feature, but the insurance companies don't like them.

Good to see it's being driven on the long trips too! Some good photos.

Curiosity got the better of me so i put in the Power FC after a factory reset (should reset to a standard STi tune, or near enough). Car runs pretty much the same if not a tiny bit better on cruise and now i get even more efame with the hand controller and CAMP combo

Glorious long weekend so did a bit of everything. Enjoy random photo dump.

Went for a very nice drive down on Good Friday to the Otways to see the Lighthouse and a ripper swim at Apollo Bay



Picked up a Bissell Spotclean from SCA for 30% off and extracted the free choccie milk from my seats


While mucking about in the interior i got around to painting the boot trims with the black fabric paint

Still need to do the boot mat. Not sure if ill use dye or the paint

While poking around the engine bay i gave the turbo a quick look over, Still micky mouse

Had a very unexpected monday morning delivery from Japan. Picked up 5:30pm on Friday in Japan and delivered 9am on Easter monday. Unreal. More HKS stuff surprise surprise. Ive started collecting the early EVC models to one day display/wire them up on my shelf. Was lucky enough to find an EVC3 Pro let alone with the box included. The PowerFC is just the box and was 1 cent lol



Swapped the EVC Pro into the glovebox instead of the EZ cos its cooler lol. The AIC is purely for display but will get it to power on etc

Looking at how the fabric paint went on the side trims, I'd use that man, came up tops. That said, wonder how it'll last on the mat.

Awesome stuff both on the parts (and delivery time!) and the trip.

If youre ever out Elhurst way, the Crowlands-Eversley road then the Joel-Joel rd are nice drives. Good surface overall, some bends and just a good all round cruisey drive. Probably nice scenery too, but we drove it at night in the Pajero with the camper out back. It had me thinking how much fun this road would be in the RS (one day!).

Theres some good camping spots youd be able to access in your wagon too. Eg: Black top accessible public camp area in Glenpatrick (donation).

Custom jap style plates for the shitter

Another box of stuff from Japan, mostly HKS as usual but also a new in box Trust maf adaptor cos why not and a leather shift knob for the daily mazda lol


Also managed to score an EVC 3 with the box. Just missing an EVC 3 Silver box and the OG EVC

Now with regional vic coming out of lockdown again and metro staying in i took the opportunity to do some driving with nice empty roads


Went for a big drive on Sunday out to the Gould Memorial Drive near Buxton, via Yea and the cathedral ranges. Awesome foggy mountain drive, cold weather, empty road. Perfection
