In that last photo, the keen eyed among you would've noticed something in the heads. Little black things. Those are Radium air assist deletes. Required to delete air assist for the injectors on these motors, to run standard top feed injectors.

For the EZ30 to be tuned, I decided on a full fuel system upgrade, everything from the pump, to the rails.

First job, adapt the wiring harness to suit the new sensors and modules. Not a big job, a little tedious if anything.

Attached File  IMG_4255.JPEG   274.16KB   7 downloads

I didn't get a pic of that all finished but it does the job most adequately.

Attached File  IMG_3612.JPEG   189.3KB   7 downloads

The short and hairy of that, is, that's most of the stuff minus braided lines and fittings. For those reading, 6 STi Pink injectors, a Radium MPR, Turbosmart FP gauge, billet rails (which we ended up redoing), MAC 4 port and Taarks mount, Walbro 255lph pump, 3 bar MAP, flex fuel sensor, Radium air assist deletes, the Link ECU, Turbosmart gate and a few other bits and bobs.

Attached File  IMG_4580.JPEG   156.45KB   7 downloads

Radium regulator in place! Nice and tidy! Was tossing up for ages on where to mount it but given the H6 fuel system, this is easily the most central position.

Attached File  7B9E3F11-3382-4B48-B56D-F2F30FF9CF32.jpg   163.76KB   3 downloads

Hardline to AN adapters fitted, looks tight! Love these fittings, make any bay look that bit extra.

Attached File  IMG_4656.JPEG   114.54KB   4 downloads

-6 Y block, very handy!

Attached File  IMG_4234.JPEG   141.71KB   4 downloads

We did try and use the square billet rails but due to a couple small issues, we had to ditch them in favour of some rail extrusion from EFI Solutions.

Attached File  D3E10B29-0466-47E1-8FFB-4C7FE13136ED.jpg   282.9KB   5 downloads

...which, my opinion, after machining and anodising, look way better anyway. These were put in the milling machine for the mounting points, injector ports and feed/return points, which we tapped in ORB8.

We did end up having to strip the anodising off the rails and redo it, due to the finish not looking as good as we'd hoped.

Everything was done in a bit of a sporadic order.

Howdy fellas, sorry for the distinct lack of updates, been absolutely flat out.

For the current state of affairs, we got the car back together, and the tune didn't go so well, as the tuner encountered a few issues as well as some constant knocking he could not get out. The engine let go shortly after. Teardown analysis determined the knock to be bent valves, and one snapped valve, killing the motor. That was the same motor that was swapped in many moons ago. RIP.

New (stock) motor is in already, and the car is currently getting bodywork and interior stuff done, and then it goes for a tune again.

Been accumulating some bits for the new built motor, so far, we've got PPM I-Beam forged rods, JE Piston 9.0:1 forged piston kit, King Racing main and rod bearings, ARP/Outfront 12mm stud kit, Performance Springs dual valve spring and Ti retainer/seat kit, and a new VRS kit coming shortly.

Good stuff.

Certainly trying lol. I'm hoping to get paint done soonish, that'll get me going something fierce!

And, just need to finish dyeing the roof liner and then that can go back together.

So, decided to add a few more things for our eyeholes.

Attached File  4C8855FB-2A81-401D-86A4-FB4A5110D930.jpeg   220.05KB   1 downloads
A complete, back-together pic of the engine bay. We had the idea of plumbing the turbo oil drain into the back of the drivers side head, but nowhere makes a M22 barb fitting. Good thing we own a lathe, because we do now.

Attached File  7B54219E-C6F5-4970-BFB5-EDE9A7D0CB06.jpeg   275.88KB   1 downloads

Engine was given a nice steam clean and check-up before accessories got attached and the motor thrown in. Sorry it's sideways.

Attached File  8F53239C-A2A4-44F4-AD5F-6BF49A371FC5.jpeg   148.47KB   1 downloads

Another interior pic, and a progress pic of painting the interior trims black. Grey roof trims on these cars look bad. It's fact. May do the roof liner itself in charcoal as black is near-on impossible to find right now.

Also, the red reverse lockout is something I made on the lathe, came out really nice after anodising.

I still have some revisions to make on the engine wiring but that's alright.

Attached File  F7053734-A861-4AF1-8ABB-5C677DAE2878.jpeg   147.15KB   1 downloads

Also, sneak peak at the happenings of the new motor.

Neat work with the lathe! Is it computer controlled or old school manually operated?

So, updoots!

The new motor had some headgasket sealer in it, no wonder it was sent to the wreckers! Haha. We're still a fair while off getting the new motor up and running yet, so we're going to rip thisun out, have the heads skimmed, chuck my Performance Spring valve springs and retainers in, and re-send.

The black roof liner is done and looks absolutely killer. I'll get some pics shortly. No good ones, as my DSLR died, fun times indeed.

Couple of small revisions, we're adding some Raceworks/Bosch 985cc injectors as the Pinks can't flow enough for this on straight ethanol. We're also going to add a Radium FPD-XR (fuel pulse damper just to reduce potential harmonics which can cause lean spots) and a Radium venturi jet pump just because of the size of pump we're using (T.I Automotive 460).

We're getting much closer. It's looking good. Running smoothly, HG issues aside.

As for the new motor, we're still tossing up on a few factors. Still a couple grand to spend there on goodies.

Good to see some problems being ironed out there Tim! Minor inconvenience to have the wrecker motor go sideways, but she'll be right. I like the plan to do a quick rebuild and try again.

Cheers,
Ben

Howdy lads,

Another little update for all of you, some of you reading have likely seen updates in the chats I'm in, so apologies.

Motor stuff got put on hold while we handled body and paint. It's been a solid.. probably 2, almost 3 months of intense work getting the body straighter than it was and laying fresh colour down. Including the car getting painted, then sanded and repainted because the colour wasn't right! Lol.

All of the hail damage that the car had is gone, the Syms Racing wing is repaired and painted, and most of the car is back together. I've got a lot of pics to post so hold steadfast, they're coming.

Also, update on the valve springs for the 30D (non-AVCS, alloy intake motor), 30R springs do not fit, at all, as the outer diameter is too large. Got some 85lb single spring boyes to go in which will hopefully save us from hitting valve float with the peak RPM bumped a little higher and boost.

New motor hasn't made any progress, yet.

Righto legends,

Jesus **** Christ, what an absolute show the last couple months have been, between house reno and random other shit, we're here again.

ANYWAY, back to it and that, cars painted. Looks schmint. No pics because it's not fully reassembled yet, and I can't be arsed getting the pics I do have off of my phone.

Motor wise, the EZ now has 85lb springs. They're strong as shit and a right prick to do with a hand spring compressor. Thankfully, got it done. Just need to shim up the cams and re-fit the heads. How exciting!

We're doing some adjustment to the up-pipe and downpipe to make things a little nicer before it goes for a tuner visit.

I'll grab some pics soon.
