No. Just no.

Had a guy quote me $465 a tyre for 225/45/18 P7s today.

You no like?

Dad ended up getting the genuine ones for the WRX and loves them!

I've heard most are still the real deal but bought in from Asia at or around the time the rubber is near its recommended used by date. You'll often see Tempe flood the market with a xxxx brand tyre and if you check the dates you'll see that they've gone off or are about to.

I've bought plenty of tyres from them in the past and never had any issues (on the road or track).

The only time I've had a tyre failure was with a set of hankooks I bought from bob jane. Side wall failure

I would rather have Alex's rusty chainsaw inserted sideways.

I have seen too many Pirelli's suffer from tread seperation or other forms of carcass failure.

True enough but when tyres are stored at stable temps away from UV the effect is minimal. May be more applicable to full motorsport tyres.

I have a set of Toyo 600F3's that are dated 1995. They are at 98% tread (not a lot of use) and have no sign of perishing. Was only really on the last drive I noticed that the grip is going off.

If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?

Awesome! I've sent them an email asking for a quote on a few sizes I can't find on their ebay listings so hopefully this can happen soon.

This chart says KU27s don't come in that size?

That's them. I basically went with the 27s for the wear life. I think haha can't really remember y but I'll let you know how they feel

Cheers!

So many choices out there... I think I've narrowed it down to either the 27s or the 39s - depending on price.

Then it'll be a choice between 225/45 or 235/45.

225s have a -1.3% difference to stock and the 235s have a 0.1% difference.

With those stats, you'd definitely go the 235s but I have a feeling I'd scrub on the strut with the +55 offset of the Liberty rims compared to the +48 XT rims...

How wide are the rims?

I would go 225.

235 fit better on an 8.

That decides it then!

Tempe only have 225s in the ku27 and 235s in the 39.

Not happy with the road noise of my current Bridgies...

Question Mark - I tried to get a shipping quote but they only deliver to the US and Canada?

Mine arent loud, you can hear them, but according to matt they heaps quiter then his ku36s.

I emailed a sales person to get my quote, and mine come direct.

Hi,

Road noise is definitely noticeable with any Khumo's I've ever had.

Interesting comment Aek.

Tempe's tyres I have found to be fresher than bread. Well, almost.

I bought my set of Continentals that were only five months old. I didn't bother checking Tara's KU39s, but since they're a new model, I didn't fret to much about checking the date of manufacture.

It may be a different case with their budget wheel and tyre packages though, but on the whole, buying good tyres from them have been a positive experience so far.

And Nik - no road noise on the KU39s.

But then again, our roads here are sealed, bitumen roads :)

I've bought 12 tyres now, and haven't had a problem.

All KU31's.

Cheers,
Nik

+1 (haven't used 4 yet and they are from st-george tyres, but aparantly they are practically the same place!)

The other thing with Tempe is they would have have extreme buying power as they move many many units of tyres. That allows them to offer he lowest everyday price as well as better deals and specials than anyone else. A small local operator or a bob jane/beaurepairs franchise can’t match that.

I can't belive someone would mentioned Falken FK452's in this thread. They are budget tyres selling for mid-high end prices.

452's are far outperformed now by the likes of the 31/39. If they were the cost of the 31's they would be worth it.

definately do not put 235's on a 7 inch wheel, that puppy will roll over the sidewall like there is no tomorrow, especially on a top heavy fozz.
