Argh was going to do this today after I washed the car but completely slipped my mind! Tomorrow arvo for sure!

Ive never thought about it before. For how long it takes it will definately be a regular service for me. Every oil change might pop it out and run some compressed air over it.

Finally did it this afternoon!

Definitely needed a clean.

Even after only a few squirts of air, the crap started pouring out!

My spontaneous SCA purchase a few months ago was put to good use

Still not completely clean and will replace it next service. At least I can see daylight through it now!

For $100, it's awesome!!!

I need some decent accessories to go with it and the tank is a little bit small, but for my use it's great!

We have one of those, next size up. We had one prior (identical) but it died, however we moved a lot in the time we had it and just assumed it got damaged then. New one has been fine for ages. They work great for what you pay.

Best bet is to wait until SCA does a bundle deal, they throw in a tool kit and hose with the larger one for about $200 from memory. The tools aren't terrible, we haven't broken one yet for home use.

I think the kit is what my lil brother has. Not bad IMO

On bringing up old threads....

I bought a filter 6 months ago and still haven't replaced it in my old liberty.

I like to think of it as borrowing someone's car and driving it better than them.

Just a heads for anyone who decides to do this because of the recent gen3 pollen filter thread:

The glovebox light and switch do not need to be removed, as long as you unplug the loom as per the OP's post

The Wesfil-brand filter needs a little trimming of the foam surround to fit snugly

Anybody know if its possible to clean the radiator looking thing behind the filter? I think its the evaporator?

Turns out my 2003 Outback has the filter frame but no filter inside it, so the evaporator is nicely filled with ****..

I did mine with a vacuum, without touching it... my filter was royally clogged, and likely the original filter. Leaves and dust had built up a bit on the radiator side somehow like the pictures here.

Changed it last Friday for a Denso one off eBay ($30 free postage, Subaru want $69).

Denso DCC5001, I believe the system and genuine part are Denso. However the filter is different, its a lot like other aftermarket ones with the foam to hold it in place, but is a perfect fit.
