Vicelore. Rev A-C is 98-01, Rev D is 01 to 03. Not sure if it makes a difference for dash clusters tho!

i will be looknig into a Gen 3 STI dash cluster as they have 260km/h limit whereas legacy has only 180km/h (JDMYO!)

Chuck a tarp over the whole thing. None of the mechanical bits will care but if you get water in the wiring things can become unpleasant. Pretty unlikely, but considering how much money it's costing, better safe than sorry.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

Well after around 4 hours we had the half cut off the ute and on car stands in the garage..

Absolute pain in the ass getting it off tho and what i would call very dangerous..

The main problem was the height of the ute was too high for the engine hoist to get any lift. so we pretty much had to remove the pallet from under the engine to get a bit more clearance, but this still didnt get enough height. we tried putting the whole hoist on blocks but that still wouldnt do it so we just ended up sliding it off.

At the point the cut came off the end of the ute the whole hoist was front heavy and went ass over tits.. ended up getting a jack with wheels under the front of it and wheeled it into position..

Defently something I wouldnt do again.. well id put it on a low trailer lol.. anyways its in and ready for me to start tinkering.

As for the cut.. It looks like it was a race car at some point of its lift.. The pannels are Posted Image'ed.. steering wheels a race one.. Bonnet is made of fiberglass..

Im just praying i havent just wasted 8 grand on a thrashed ***ked car.. Oh well time will tell..

Cheers Vice.

That would explain some of the nice bits that were attached to it when you bought it. Don't dispair just yet though - track cars are normally maintained to a much higher standard and also a much higher frequency than a road car. Not to mention it may have some nice aftermarket forged goodness inside it too. Japanese track cars aren't cheap affairs.

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it. In process of being stripped and sold off.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon. Scrapped.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. Scrapped.

MY13 BRG, current daily, very nice to drive, small mods to make it even nicer again.

Maybe it just had a replaced steering wheel, and someone crashed it :P

Alarm keypad in a WRX sits where the Gen 3 foglight switch sits, have a good look around the dash for it. If the previous owner removed it or replaced it with something else, count yourself lucky. The Brandt alarms are painful, although in the WRX's they were a bit nicer. Maybe Japan didn't fit them standard like Aus did. Back in 2000, there was a huge run of people in aus using WRXs for ram-raid cars, so Subaru Australia dropped in the alarm/immobiliser as standard from 01 onwards. Maybe about the DCCD, but with the high possibility of it being a track car, you might have an aftermarket controller there somewhere, or it just didnt have it.

As above, the keypad alarm was fitted by Subaru Australia, so your JDM cut won't have one.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.
