That sucks matt, launch control is awesome. Never been game enough to try it on bitumen with my 5 speed, but on dirt its great fun. How easy is it to change in the ECU? I might get enthused later this week and find out if its just a tick box somewhere. Might have to turn on antilag too, again just for shits and giggles...

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it. In process of being stripped and sold off.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon. Scrapped.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. Scrapped.

MY13 BRG, current daily, very nice to drive, small mods to make it even nicer again.

Im not spending a cent on anything but mechanical needs untill this conversion is finished.

I may splurge and buy a spray can of black for the rims, but thats it. :)

So i know you guys arnt probally going to like my plans for the interior as not everyone likes the whole stance sceen, but heres some pics of me starting my sticker bomb job on the ugly wood paneling.

Ofcourse it will be varnished over to make it smooth when im finished.

Oh and does anyone know how to remove the boot ?

I must admit, I am not really a fan of the sticker bombing, but thats cool, should be unique and probably won't look that bad once the majority on the interior plastics are done. That sort of thing only looks tacky when its done on a couple of items. My only advice here would be eventually to purchase OEM replacement plastics for if you want to sell the car at some stage in the future - You'll be severely narrowing the market you can sell it to by keeping the new look. Best bet is someone wrecking a car or off import monster.

As far as your question - there should be (I think from memory) 4 goldish coloured clips holding the boot on from the underside of the surround - but be careful - ten year old fragile and brittle plastic will break easily, especially the gear boot surround. Those are very prone to cracking when you try and manipulate them. If you dont mind me asking, why take it off?

Edit - There should be somewhere here a listing of all the factory manuals for the various liberties around - Find the Gen 3 one and that should answer all the questions you have when it comes to that sort of thing. It is one of those things that is incredibly handy when you need it. Especially when something wont move - you may not have seen a clip or something. Saves breaking things.

Carry the look around the rest of the interior if you are going to do it - window controls, door handle surround, etc.

Oh, thats another thing you will need - a dash cluster. The RX one only revs to 7 from memory? The red line on a 2L turbo is 7500, and limiter cuts in at 7800. Speedo isnt too much of a worry as the imports are all speed limited to 180. My advice is to find one of the STi clusters as shown in the above photo - white backing. Should look the bomb when combined with the stickering. Only reason I say that is that cluster should be bolt in, plug and play. The blacked out B4 ones need wiring mods to make them work properly.

Take note of the amount of km on the new cluster though - they are inbuilt into the speedo, so change the speedo, you change the amount of kms shown.

I don't really like sticker bombing on panels, but'll look cool on the interior bits.

The EJ207 goes a fair bit past 7500. It's hardly worth running out and buying a new cluster though, when the tacho points to due south, time to change gear :D

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

yer, the piller, 1/4 glass are also done and part of the rear window is done, as well as subyclub rep in the dish of his wheels.

i still have the stock auto heritage cluster in my car and the nedle has been seen hovering over the clock (only ones and dont want to do it) i have a defi b4 cluster for the car and dad just needs to sit down and make a pitch harness and work his subaru magic

I was hoping the STI one will still be in the cut ? I was hoping i could mod that into the existing dash ?

And as for resale, Ill be driving this car into thr ground.. I plan on keeping it for atleast another 5 years so by then it will be thrashed and worthless..

Im running a fairly ratty theme on the car. With skateboards on the back parcel ( i know not the best saftey feature) going to put in a racing steering wheel and bucket seats, gauges.. I have even considered ripping out the door trim and carpets.. I know this isnt to most peoples taste, But im a VW guy after all and am used to ratty but functional interiors..

Cheers Vice.
