Morning guys.

Was away all weekend so didnt make much progress on the car except getting a guy to come de gas the air con for me, but got stuck into it last night and managed to get a bit done.

Got the heater/air con box`s out pulled all the LHS loom through the fender into the cabin and all but one of the middle loom bungs into the cabin. All iv got left to do now before i can send the looms off is to get the RHS bung out pull that through and the last middle bung.

Iv noticed two things when I was working last night.

1. How do you go about getting the wire out that goes to the windscreen wipers ? DO i need to remove that whole black plastic section below the windscreen ? Seems like its sealed to the window.

2. along the RHS loom it seems to splice through the body work down near the light socket. One going left around a pole one going right around the pole then both mating together again.. I dont think i can get the loom back through without cutting one of the rountes.. I read i shouldnt have to cut anything but i cant see a way around this.. Im assuming the wire was spliced for aftermarket driving lights. ( I have see brackets for them)

Oh also ... What are the wires on the LHS RHS looms that go to the calipers ?

Cheers guys.

Vice

Yeah the plastic bit above the firewall has to come out. Then unplug the clip for the wipers. Pretty easy.

I cut the windscreen wiper wires. Then reattached a waterproof plug when I put it all back together.

Well the looms fully out now and in a box.. Gonna send it up to AM auto ASAP.. Feels like the project is actually making some good progress now, Was a great feeling hoisting the loom over my head and carrying it over to its box..

Now i get to start on the fun stuff.. Gonna work on putting in the coilovers i got with the cut and maybe the breaks after that..

Thanks for all the help guys.

How is it all going for you?

I'm looking at doing this in the next couple of weeks. As I always enjoy working on my car.

Yea its a big task mate. Esp for a guy with limited experience like me but its very rewarding.. My Advise is to make sure you have lots of time where its ok to have the car off the road, As iv found "stuff" just keeps popping up and the whole process draws out..

Cheers Vice.

Hahaha.. I go out far to much.. And achieve nothing.. This will be a landmark of acomplishment for me. Normally all i achive is pissing in a wardrobe half drunk.. and losing my pants..

Seriously going to be better than any christmas, birthday etc..

fr34ko get on it mate :) its been fun and its just starting to get to the good part where im actually building the car back up.. Pulling shit apart suprisingly isnt that fun.. Its just scary seeing 1000 screws and wondering how im gonna rember where everything goes :)

As for price yup not cheap..

My spending so far.

$7500 engine + $500 shipping
$450 cluster
$300 x member and tail shaft
$80 loom shipping

expences that i know of coming up

$700+ loom splicing
$500 100k service
$1500 back brakes/hubs machining/drive shafts
$1000+ exaust
$800?? tune
$500 FMIC

Plus all the tools iv had to buy ( engine crane etc )

Plus other bits and pieces along the way..

My current wheels may not even fit over 4 pots so i may need new rims lol..

:)

Oh and the fact im on my third mates car iv been driving to work for the last couple of months.. so iv been filling them with beer to compensate the favour :)

And im saving for a trip to vegas in Oct so living like a Uni student at hahaha.

I have had some good times pulling it apart, But its daunting.. Getting both the looms out and into a box was a big turning point for me.

Im just really looking forward to putting stuff back in..

Well the looms half done, Spoke to Al yesterday and he informed me that the half cut i got must of been a RA model so thats good.. Turns out it has DCCD and around 220 kw standard so happy times with that news..

Iv also been talking to him about having the gen three hubs machined to take the R180 bearing/drive shafts so that seems like ill end up with the strongest possible rear end i can in a Gen 3..

I am missing the driveshafts/hubs from a bugeye/peanut eye STI so if you have some let me know and ill throw you some cash for them.

Cheers Vice.

Awesome score!
Getting some good progress on this man, should be mad when it's done..
Wreckers or Scott would be a good place to start for shafts/hubs and ichiban..

Cheers,
Zach.
