Well the looms half done, Spoke to Al yesterday and he informed me that the half cut i got must of been a RA model so thats good.. Turns out it has DCCD and around 220 kw standard so happy times with that news..

Iv also been talking to him about having the gen three hubs machined to take the R180 bearing/drive shafts so that seems like ill end up with the strongest possible rear end i can in a Gen 3..

I am missing the driveshafts/hubs from a bugeye/peanut eye STI so if you have some let me know and ill throw you some cash for them.

Cheers Vice.

Just read this..noice..so no air con on the halfcut or anything? They were so light, no radios, no abs, no airbags, no boot floor, no undercoat, no spoilers not even a passenger sunvisor lol

Pretty sure they have a tranny cooler on the six speed aswell! And the finned power steering cooler ofcourse
What turbos it got? A vf36 or something?

Hmm ok, maybe they can be optioned onto it??? looks like you have some aftermarket headers and some extra bits on the engine ;) (looked back at some of the pics you have)

Sounds like it might have had some go in its previous life!

Got heaps done this week.. after getting the loom back i havent been able to stop working on the car.

first up un boxing of the new loom..

Posted Image

Then i went about putting in the 2 side looms down the fenders and under the front bumper.

IF you see anything looking incorrect id appreciate the tip off..

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

Then i went about puttin in the main cabin loom..
Started with the white plastic clip in the center then worked out from there..

And then went about putting all the wires for the engine bay and their bungs in next.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

Then went in the heater box after cleaning up its pipe connections on the engine side as they where corroded as Posted Image..
The Air con unit went in after that.. twice.. As i forgot to put me subbie power wire through the bung before hand !!! Posted Image

Posted Image

You will see my useage of labled bags in the pulling apart phase has paid off here..

Posted Image

I then went about making sence of the fuse box/plug section on the DHS. Got allot of the plugs in their place which is suprising since i forgot to take any photos of the layout for some reason.. ( to many beers say..)

Posted Image

Last thing i got done was wiring in the ECU, I had to cut a little of the carpet away to make room for the larger loom wire so it fits under the cover.
Put a bit of tape around the sharp edges to save the wire`s..

Ill keep the posts coming as its starting to move again now.

Morning boys.

Well got another lot of stuff done yesterday.. Got around 90% of the loom plugged back in so thaught it was time to put the big support beam back in.. All went smoothly except crushing my thumb in the process..

Posted Image

After that was in i went about connecting the steering column so i could see any missing plugs.. I still have a few wires that arnt plugged in but i think most of them are for plugs in the dash.

I also mounted the DCCD computer that i had to remove from the STI half cut.. Lucky the liberty had the exact same mounting holes for it next to the steering colum so it screwed straight on.

After this i went about removing all cables/pipes going to both engines as Im going to pull the half cut engine and g box tonight.

Got a few questions before i go ahead so if you know the answers id love to hear them..

FIrst off.. Is it possible to swap out the lib pedals for the STI ones as my lib ones are pretty beat up ? how do you go about it ? as im assuming now the time to do it.

Also.. Iv removed all pretty much everything from the engine that i can see. But I have 4 hoses i wasn't keen to unplug as i wasn't sure what was in them and if it was going to piss all over me. Iv got some shots of them below. If you could let me know how to disconnect that would be great..

Im assuming one is for the clutch plate and is hydrolic fluid.. The other three I have NFI..

Thanks again guys.

Oh ok.. Sweet. How do i go about unpluging them.. Im assuming i can just clamp the fuel ones ? how about the clutch one ? do i need to drain the hydraulic fluid ? Is this done down near the pump ?

Thanks again Vice.

No one ??

Edit.. Done a bit of reading ( after i found out what the clutch master cylinder was called) and it seems i can just undo the 14ml bolt on the top and lift the hose up.. They said a little fluid will come out but not much. And im assuming i can just re attach on the 6 speed box in reverse..

As for the fuel im just going to raise the lines and hope for the best.. may clamp if need be.

Thanks anyhow..

The fuel shouldn't really flow out, it may be a little pressurised so just be cautious! Maybe wear some eye protection :)

You won't have to clamp them - no pressure in the system. Maybe wrap tape around the ends to stop shit getting in them.

Clutch master is up the top (where you fill it with brake fluid), slave cylinder is down the bottom bolted to the bell housing.
Just undo the bolts holding it to the bell housing and move it out of the way.

What did the get on the 1/2 cut? Slave cylinder?
Was the box still mounted to the engine?

The Sti pedals should bolt up same as the liberty one's.... my advice to you is drop the gear box and engine via the shocks and engine x member then slide it from under the car....do same on the half cut and lift the half cut over the engine and gearbox then just simply bolt it to your car's body and return your car on wheels so its safe to work on....plus this will save you shit load of time unbolting engines from boxes and then back again....

Hey mate making some good progress!
I think all the questions have been answered..
I dropped the box out the bottom of the cut but pulled the engine the traditional way.
I Just don't have enough jacks and stands to lift Things safely and bring everything out underneath in one.

Same on the Lib, I pulled the engine out top and then me and my mate Unbolted the box and lifted it out the front.

Don't forget to drain all your fluids also, especially the gearbox! Because when you drop the box and remove the tail shaft shit will go everywhere..

Thanks for the info guys.

How do i go about unbolting the pedals mate ? do you do it at the firewall or just the pedal itself ??

I got the whole clutch system with the half cut as the gbox and engine are still attached and fully in the car.. I was just going to use the hose from the lib and connect it to the slave cylinder on the 6 speed. Sound ok ??

Wasnt aware that you couldnt lift both the g box and engine out together.. Ill go under the half cut as that wont be hard to lift up but not sure about lifting the whole car up enough to get it under.. Ill have to get some more car jacks and give it a shot.. Tho thats allot of weight to have 4 foot in the air..

I got up a couple of hours early for work and did a bit more work, got the dash back in temp this morning to see what plugs i still had left and unfortunatly have around 6ish that i dont know where they go.. Iv taken a few of the ones on the passenger side if you guys have any idea.

I also had a earth coming from the fuel control unit that i didnt know where to screw.. Screwed it to the back of unit.. Do you think that will be ok ?

CHeers and thanks again..

Thanks for the tips guys.

I went about removing the coilovers/sway bar and control arms from the cut last night but then got stuck on a stripped nut, Going to tackle getting the rest of it off over the weekend then lower the engine/box out the cut..

Im assuming i just need to undo the above then unbolt the engine and box X member and it should drop down ? Do you leave the lower control arms connected ?

Also just stuck on 5 connectors in the cabin now that i cannot find where they go.. Any ideas appreciated.

Cheers

Last one looks like the OBDII port.

Those green ones are for accessing the ECU so you can unplug those otherwise you'll get a flashing CEL.

Not sure about the others
