Also as scott said, probably easiest to install everything the way in came to you including the piggyback ecu. It sounds like it’s probably had some serious modifications done to it so you may decide to keep it anyway. Once you get it all in and running you can decide if you want to go down the route of removing the HKS piggyback and running the OEM ecu (and re-installing the MAF etc) and tuning with ROMraider or other open source tuning software etc
Basically, for the factory ECU, there should be a (MAP) sensor mounted between the air filter, and the (in your case) red silicon tubing before the turbo. It measures air flow (I think)
I'd dare say the plug is still in the loom for it so maybe you just need to source the sensor. Hard to tell from the internet!
Kind of right but you have the sensors mixed up. OEM this car has a MAF Sensor (Mass Air Flow) but would have been removed and only us a MAP Sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) for tuning purposes

From memory The HKS ECU was removed from the loom by AM Auto?

I really wanted to take everything back to basics to keep things easy for me to understand.. Then figure out exactly how mods work and effect the car as i go..
I was under the impression that if the internals etc had been updated then removing boost controllers etc would only turn boost down and therfor the internal mods( if there are any ) would be fine ??
I had always feared that the internals might be worth lots and ran super high boost over there then I go and put on standard ECU etc and never know the full potential of the engine.. I really hate that i cant speak to its prevous owner lol..
Would a tuner be able to see if cams etc have been replaced whilst tuning ?

Im getting conflicting info on this guys.. Herd it was just the rubber bit between the cross member and g box thats different ?

you have both dont you? put them side by side and take a photo will be good for future reference
Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

and the wrx one is strapped to the g box still.. Im gonna get under the cut and remove the cross members.. Just gotta rig up a way to hold the engine without the sub frame..

Six speed gearbox mounts aren't the same as five.
Like members. Five speed owners aren't the same as six speed owners

Made a big lot of progress last night.. Had allot of awesome help from codeburn3r.. Great

Went about removing the engine from the lib..
Started out disconnecting all lines to the engine that i could see.. after that tackled the 4 botls each side of the gearbox.
they all came off ok but as some on the suby club FB page will know.. I didnt know that i had to remove the clutch fork pin.. After looking around for 45 mins i found the pin and removed it.. Turned out it was just a nut on one side of the box and after that you need to remove the oil dip stick and then pull the long bolt from the other side.
after that me and Ty tried to pull the engine but i had forgot to remove the headers.. SO back down it went and they came off..
After that and a little love the engine was out and flying through the air..
Gonna go about removing the 5 speed tonight. Stay tuned !!

Cheers Vice..

just so everyone else knows... this engine has had work done!
it is 100% from a Race car..
fender braces, Coilovers, custom 4 into 1 headers, more support bracing, shitloads of custom HKS boost control shit everywhere, a different (BIG) turbo (possibly VF22)
Billy coilovers... DIBS!

this thing would have been a machine previously!
look forward to seeing how she goes..

Just had a read about the VF22.. NICE!!!
VF22
This turbo has the highest output potential of all of the IHI VF series turbos and is the best choice for those who are looking for loads of top end power. The top end power however, does not come without a cost. The VF22 spools significantly slower than the rest of the IHI models due to the larger P20 exhaust housing and is much less suited for daily driving than some of the other models. Although the largest VF series turbo, the VF22 is not quite optimal for stroked engines or those who wish to run more than 20PSI of boost.

Hate to be a downer but with all them mods some dude in japan has probably done a little more then deliever sushi in it when it was a car. Which sorta could explain how it ended up as a halfcut here..
