So 20 psi gen3. Ken oath!

Hate to be a downer but with all them mods some dude in japan has probably done a little more then deliever sushi in it when it was a car. Which sorta could explain how it ended up as a halfcut here..

Even if it was smashed and driven hard does not make it automatically a crap engine in need of a rebuild...till its fired up he wont know....
I've seen an engine been in a hard front end smash, new cam gears were put in and new timing belt car started no issues also it had a timing belt jump ran on 3 cyl and still going now...(plus not to mention the tip of the crank is bent)

Super crap dont have very big breaker bars... 380mm is the biggest your gonna get... you have a rattle/impact wrench so you wont have to much probs after cracking the nut with the bar...

Gasweld or Bursons for breaker bars.

I'd definitely crack the nut with a breaker bar first.

Supercheap had a 480mm one..
but the 380mm will do (with a bit of pipe on it as it doesn't have a stupid rubber handle that gets in the way.

Rattle gun is best for the cv nut anyway. But fyi 600mm kincrome breaker bars are $60ish from autobarn ;) good progress man, looks like it'll be a good finished package..

Cheers,
Zach.

32mm Impact socket + ryobi impact wrench = happy fun yumcha cv nut cruncher times.

rattles them off in seconds.

Morgan - no breaker bar required (well maybe for tightening) ;)

You're right.... I am thinking of the tightening process rather than the loosening process!

Ryobi rattle gun with 32mm socket is choc full of win!

didnt get the engine in after all..

Got allot done but not upto the engine start, despite working on it till 1 am..

The main problem was the two guys i was relying on to do the timing belt whernt comfortable doing the boxers one.. So the engine couldnt really go in Fri night.

We did however remove all the old cross members the transmission all the exaust and then got all the new cross members onto the 6 speed..

PS the 5 speed cross members seems to be the same as the 6 speed on the wrx.. Atleast the part i cut anyhow.

Did find a problem along the way too..

Since my half cut is a RA cut the front hubs do seem to have connections for the ABS SO this puts me in the shit..

I also found out the steering rack in the lib had a broken boot so i may also need to use the STI one.. This should be ok ??

Should get new whiteline bushes for that tranny x member while its apart! Cheap but worth while ;) also upgraded front and rear shifter bushings if it doesnt have them already? Easier to do when its all apart

Were you talking about using the sti rack or the boot? Boot should be ok, rack is doable but i think it needs the sti column etc as the threads are different in the uni joint....best bet is to chase an STi GC8 rack and install that, as itll be a 2.7 lock to lock rack not a 3.something rack like you have in the lib (better yet get a gc8 RA quickrack!...but these are really hard to come across atm)
