Damn, bilstein coilovers. Should see if they have the rears to match.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

second hand from the same car surely you could get the rear two for a few hundred bucks. unless it'd had a rear hit i guess

wouldnt matter to much what coilover you run in the rear. as long as its a sensible spring rate and damper adjustable if u can pick up two of anything just grab the.

Have you put any more thought into squeezing some more power out of the engine. Like strapping on one of those intake fans

they look like they'd need rebuilding, and I would expect them to be shot, so i wouldn't get terribly excited at this stage about the coilovers.

If they were in any way in a serviceable condition, I doubt they'd just chuck them in with the cut.

If they're good, consider it a bonus, but don't be too quick to count your chickens just yet.

If this is out of a peanut eye, I doubt the coil overs will fit the gen 3 without different top hats. Good to see the engine cam covers are in good nic, also the high pressure rad cap looks in good nic too. Get some black silicone pipe work for the rad pipe, air filter piping and change that blow off valve before you put it over the pits (if you are going to). If you want to keep the temp sender, move it down the pipe a little. The kink at the top will hurt coolant flow.

My advice is to either keep the factory scoop or get the K2 gear replica of the S401. My reason for this is simple - increased airflow, without the increase in attention from the local police - If you put the rex scoop on, it will, in my experience, be classified as a rex by those who dont know what it is. With that, you will get looked at a whole lot more.

Definitely clean up the engine a bit when you pull it out. The lack of paint on the inlet manifold looks tacky in my eyes, but hey, I have a pump bottle as my overflow, so I can't really throw stones... :walts: The other thing to do would be straighten the bent fins of the IC, all it takes is time and patience with a small flat blade screwdriver.

The airbox might look ghetto, but it will work wonders, if the bottom section bolts in, use it and make a neater top for it. Then paint it satin black. Will look sweet.

Looks like braided front brake lines too - unless they are STi or some other major brand name, get rid of them for a set of ADR approved ones or factory lines, there are several horror stories on these forums about bad braided lines. Dont take the risk.

Other things that I can think of - Fuel pump (although already mentioned) - Get the Walbro straight up. $250 for a pump that will put up with 500 horses. And it bolts in with minimal effort.
If you change the exhaust dump to a free flowing one, expect boost cut and lots of over boost. Unless you plan on tuning it not long after, dont upgrade the dump pipe with out some form of external boost control.

Certainly looks the goods though, you seem to have scored a few nice bits there. Agree with Aek - hope the gauges are there, and def. give those brakes a bit of TLC.
Will be watching this thread.

Cheers,
Ben

MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it. In process of being stripped and sold off.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon. Scrapped.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. Scrapped.

MY13 BRG, current daily, very nice to drive, small mods to make it even nicer again.

Thanks heaps for the replys guys.. Love reading all your suggestions, really gets the juices flowing to get the hands dirty.

I should be picking it up on Friday. Got a question for those of you that have done a half cut.

How did you guys go about loading it for transport. I was speaking to a mate with a ute with a tray on the back.. I was thinking it may fit on there but wasnt sure.

It measures 1.8 by 2.4 and can hold just under a tonne.. how much do you guys think it would weigh ? Im also wondering how ill get it off the tray at my house as i dont have a engine hoist yet..

Im sure they will be able to fork it on at the depot but getting it off may be an issue.

Cheers Vice.

Dunno if this has been said already

Remember if going 6 speed and R180, that the STi rear hubs wont just bolt up as the Lib is multi link rear end.....to fit the R180 you need to machine your stock Liberty hubs to press in the STi bearing...than modify the rear driveshafts (shorten) to fit...the R180 requires a tiny little bit angle grinded off to fit in the rear diff carrier (banana looking bit)

Front hubs you will need yes, as the CV's are huge in comparison to your current ones...and if going 6 speed, youll also need an auto B4 tail shaft as the STi one wont fit without mods (and i think it rubs on the tunnel as its a lot thicker)

And i think youll need a different (turbo) front subframe??? mine is using a Gen2 GTB one

And you will definently need to make a new tmic splitter as the GD one is massive and sits alot closer to the bonnet, the std B4 bonnet will struggle to keep the GD TMIC happy aswell....i have an ARC scoop lip added opnto mine which makes it a bit bigger...but will soon have an s401 scoop molded into my new B4 bonnet...which will be heaps better

No, GD has a completely different cross member compared to a Gen3

Either a B4 or a gen2 GT/GTB or i think even the Gen2 RX ones fit......i remember Al had to change mine out (03 Gen3 Liberty)

Gen 2 RX got a turbo crossmember for some crazy reason, so if a gen 2 GTB or GC8 one fits, then yes an RX one will fit too.

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

Geeze good news all around Matt :) Appreciate the warning tho.

Sounds like im going to have to just get along with it and take these problems as they come.. Kinda hard to know which parts need machining without seeing how they fit/dont fit..

Vice :)

Yep. Yanked out the 2.5 and plopped the v7 motor in without touching the crossmember.
