Hey guys, I have a few questions and I am hoping that some people can shed some light on a few problems.

My car is a 95 GX liberty sedan.
So far I am planning to replace my clutch and front driver side cv boot.

I have been told by subrau that my flywheel is not dual mass, which I have read a bit about (consensus seems to be that it is a pos). Correct me if I am wrong.
Found this exedy clutch which fits (hopefully) and seems to be alright for the price. Comes with everything I will need from what I can tell. http://www.autoparts...ngs+Best+Seller
I also plan to replace the gearbox and rear diff oil, rear main seal and machine the flywheel. Are there any other things that need to be done when replacing a clutch that I have missed?

Found this DIY clutch replacement for an impreza, which is extremely well done. I assume the process would be very similar for my car so I plan to follow it pretty closely.

My front driver side cv boot has shat itself and flung grease everywhere in the last couple of weeks so I was wondering, is it smarter to just replace the entire axle instead of just the boot. The car has nearly 250,000km on it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Josh

Correct, your car has a solid flywheel - this is a good thing!

I can't help you with the other clutch questions but re the CV boot, is it clacking when you turn corners yet? If not, you might have caught it in time and will only need to replace the boot. If the joints are clacking or if too much crap has made it's way inside the split boot, you'll need to replace the whole driveshaft.

There is a small amount of noise on full lock, so I guess I'll be replacing the entire thing.
Thanks Morgan

Yeah if there's any sort of noise I'd be replacing the whole shebang. Not worth the risk if it's damaged IMO.

I've bought new drive shafts at Bursons West Gossy before for about $140 from memory (it was about 3-4 years ago).

Agreed. Better to be safe than sorry.
I'll have a look at Bursons later this afternoon.

Thanks a lot

No worries.

Might be worth asking them for a price check on flywheel/clutch/seals/oil too?

I was going to go to subaru for a few things but Bursons will probably be cheaper. Can't hurt to get a price check anyway.

Cheers

If you're doing one shaft, do the other side at the same time.

Got some prices from Bursons yesterday. Clutch was $400 and $360 for the axles. Time to get saving. Thanks for the help guys.

I did a driveshaft for a Camry today. There's a wreckers at Tuggerah called 'Best Price' and they had one for $60 (for the Camry). Obviously not brand new but hellavalot cheaper!
