hey tristan. after al has finished with your car, should have a get together with the qld boys. im sure some of us would be interested in having a look at al's handywork and see the car in the flesh. hope it works out for you, sounds like its going to be a unique ride.

that's a good idea... i didn't think of that...

you want me to organise it???

i should (hopefully) have the car back for the weekend of the 14th / 15th of february...

Talk to Dylan about the joys and fun of being interrogated by the constabulary regarding his conversion whilst having driver licence restrictions.

kids don't learn these days.

Dylan got caught because he had a boost gauge from the side of the story I heard. If Tristan has a boost gauge well..... I guess he deserves to get caught

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.

May have had something to do with the terrible scoop as well, and several other things. I think the gauge gave it away that I may not have just been all rice, though.

From sources I've talked to about this, and mod's on P platers cars - the one you're undertaking Tristan, while is illegal, will be a lesser risk than say an EJ20T or something of that nature.

Keep it looking stock. Drive sensibly and you should avoid most problems.

kids don't learn these days.

Alex man, you only live once.

May as well enjoy time while we're here, could all end tomorrow!

Technically what Tristan is doing is not a modification. Its an Upgrade. when he does the tune and exhaust and CAI then its a modification. leave it stock and then its an upgrade... wink wink

What? He's changing it from standard. Another word for "Change" is "Modify" So you could say he's "Modifying" it from the standard specification. This is so, because no BD Liberty was ever fitted with an EZ30r.

i know Paul, but its a word technicallity, u can get away with a lot of things on technicallity's... u know what i mean anyway...when it comes down to law and courts if he ever gets done for it, comes down to lawyers and how good they are with words and changing things to suite their client... Edit: there are other ways around it if he gets caught, have the car on his dads or mums name and then an engeniers cert and they say he had no other car so he used that...u know blah blah blah and maybe gets off we can go on forever with reasons how to try to make it legal. but knowing that its still illegal is half the fun...

you can't possibly be serious. A 180kw 6 cylinder motor into a car 10 years older than the motor with two less cylinders not considered a modification? Changing your wheels is a modification. Putting on a muffler is a modification. An engine swap sure as hell is a modification.

Wink wink generally means on the sly, not "I'm joking". Anyway, having it in his parents name will be meaningless, because you still need to have an exemption to be legally allowed to drive the car, which is extremely difficult to get. In processing his application, the RTA could quite easily type in his parents name and go "Oh look, they have 2 other cars" and then he will not qualify. There is no way around it, there is no legal way for him to drive the car in NSW. His only hope will be to not get caught in the first place.

You can't get out of it. No matter who owns the car. If he claims its an "Upgrade" rather than a "Modification", The police officer will quite likely swat him with his batton.

Dont they use phone books anymore?

Good choice on the EZ30r. When did you say it''ll be going in, Feb? I really think you should do some work prior to fitment though, you'll be kicking yourself later if you don't.

If you keep it factory looking under the hood, (engine covers, factory sticker's etc, You should be fine if the bonnet ever gets popped open for inspection. If you make your car look a little different to the normal liberty, Not massive differnce, but small things like the legacy option. MR plod will proberly believe you when he questons the H6
