Spoken to Al about the twin system? Good split between torque and top end. Big single might loose some low end torque.

yes they are 2nd hand, from cardiff automotive... $750... with a 3 month warranty... so i'm gonna claim on the warranty cos they're noisy as all hell...

the front brakes are 277 2 pots (bigger than the 266 single pots [i think] that were on there) and will be replaced with 294s as soon as monies will allow... for the time being i'm just going to have to be mindful of the fact that i'm running smaller brakes and won't be able to stop as well... though the pads that are on them give them a lot of bite considering how small they are...

after the conversion in order of soonest to last priority:

New CV joints (front left has cracked boots, these will probably even be fixed when the motor goes in)
Not-bent front left control arm (from when i first got the car and curbed it, it's throwing camber out by 3 degrees)
Brakes (294 front and 290 rear if i can get them...)
Bushings refresh
Swaybars (24 [adjustable?] rear and 22 front)
Rear strut brace
Maybe an RX kit, but i think the GX kit has grown on me
A respray (perhaps not the whole car, but at least the parts that need it)

Ive got 277 two pots on my car atm and they are 3 imes as good as the stock ones (slight exaggeration me thinks :P) but then again i only have a shit house 2.2.

Why not just replace the boots on the CV?

Sounds like youve got it all sorted as well. again, good shizzle.

and then after a while:
Super/turbocharge to about 6-8 PSI as i don't wanna root the engine (which is running 10.7:1 comp ratio)
Bigger exhaust to cope with powah
Stainless Intake (to replace the plastic jobbie)
FMIC (sprayed black to help sleeper look)
Re-tune for MAX POWAH!!

........AND A BIG MOFO BONNET BULGE TO ACCOMDATE THE BLOWER

If thy tint is dark and thy wheels are black thou car be declared b11tchin'

So you can run it on 6psi with an rx fuel pump? :P

for those who think he's talking about tarbos, he's not...

i mentioned to miles about what exhaust size i should go, and he thinks that even the 2.25 should be fine... wouldn't affect power too much

that's why i'm unsure if i'm even gonna get a full system... as it saves me a fair bit doing it into my current pipe...

having said that, some oznoob wants to buy my catback off me for $250... so that might go part of the way towards the 2.5 single

Is your current exhaust press or mandrel bent? Get a high flow cat as well.

it's press bent... so really, it's probably a 2" exhaust... and has a 2" muffler on it...

i'm getting a high flow cat put on, after the extractors...

miles said that having the exhaust well muffled is important because the motor has quite a bark to it

I very much doubt a high flow cat would make fark all difference at the power levels this thing would be making. (not saying its not powerful). How much are people paying for the 2 pot front calipers now days?

You'd be surprised what a proper Highflow cat will do for it. Also, I can't see his OEM item fitting :). Definatly get good mufflers. You can have it sound good, but still be quiet. I got three of the bastards on my car it sound awesome, but is only slightly louder than standard.

I really dont think the cat will make a huge diff... they arnt all that restrictive in comparison to a small exhaust and crappy mufflers Guess it cant hurt to do it :P

besides which, i'm pretty sure that the cat on my car is rooted, i think that's where the farty exhaust noise is coming from (it's either that or a loose baffle in the muffler, which it also can't be because the muffler was replaced to get rid of the sound, and that didn't work) and i wouldn't know if it was there before i got the catback, because the OEM exhaust had a hole in it that only got bigger after i bought it...

there is like 2 bends in an NA exhaust, press/mandrel bend means fugg all. 3litre 6 i'd lean towards bigger than 2.25inch

Good point Alex. Though it does depend on the fabricator :P. If you do get another cat. Check the CPI. Cells per inch. The lower the CPI, the more it will flow. Basically.

Oooh, Sydney to Bris/Noosa, that's a shite drive. You resting anywhere or making it in 1 day?
Picked out a tuner for the ECU yet, as SubiEvolution is North of North Bris, and Chiptorque isn't too far away from there AFAIK. Plus there's Boxer Service in the genereal vacinity.

Hope you sort the zaust out soon, are they unequal length headers for that nice burble?

Nick

gonna leave on friday after work and drive for a few hours then crash somewhere for the night (not literally) and finish the trip on the saturday...

i haven't picked a tuner, and wasn't planning on it, al mentioned that he has someone in mind and will sort it out for me... all i've got to do is drive (if the car will drive, otherwise tow) it down to brissy to get tuned...

as for the exhaust, the extractors are (i believe) going to be tuned length... as there is no burble as such with the H6... it'll just sound like a Porsche... :P

yeh, the Porsche 6 and the suby 6 sound really really similar...

if you came to more monthly meets then you would see it more... lol

and i don't want your B4... gen2>gen3 (says the guy who just keeps putting more gen3 stuff into his car)

Tristan what you doing while the cars being worked on? Holiday or flying home? Also the ez30r is from gen4s not 3 :D

I would have gone to the kitchen, collected a brown bag, dropped my dacks, pinched off a loaf in said bag, done up dacks, stickytaped bag, placed bag in envelope, and mailed it right to your face for being such a tool.

It's ok, sometimes when we herp, we also derp.
