Shaz. This is what I'm trying to achieve :P

Well what I was thinking was you could set the camera on a separate pivot, and then when you swing the camera around on the main pivot, you could also focus the camera on one spot? I dunno if that makes sense.

Imagine the camera is focused on your wheel. When you turn the lever, the camera would also shift. If you had a pivot where the camera was you could keep the rim in picture the whole time while altering the shooting angle entirely.

Yeah, but do you have a video of what you're trying to achieve? I know what it is in theory.

I put up with people from amnesty, red cross and now the cancer council almost daily hounding me!! Throw in the greens, green peace, unhcr, save the forking children and I've well and truly hit my limit for the number of fuckstains wanting me to sign something or give money. Seriously cubts,  :fork: right off.

Nope. I was just going from what you wanted.

Do you mean of the part moving? Or the shot it would get?

The shot it would get. I kinda know what kind of shot it would get.

Just make it, shoot some film, and report back.

:)

Question guys. Shooting video of the meet on Saturday. Should I use 25fps or 50fps? I do like the look that 25p does for movies but not sure its best in this application. Thoughts?

50fps may be too quick in the dark?

Pretty much an assumption though!!

I'd be shooting in 60fps, 1280x720, shutter speed of around 1/25 and ISO around 1000 or lower if possible. Aperture of maybe 4.0

I've tried the rubber band trick Adam. Still doesn't work unfortunately.

Theres nothing much else I can do, except bite the bullet and buy a $$$$ one. Looking at a few Manfrotto video tripods at the moment.

$400 for the cheapest one so far.

In other news, upon departing my mates place yesterday, I found a set of Roller Skates in his council cleanup. So i've taken them, and I am going to use the wheels as the basis for a track-bound dolly.

Yeah, thats a great resource Dam!

If you go on Vimeo, and type in DIY, there is way more advanced ones too, like how to create a 5m video crane jib and stuff.

Basically a rope or cable, with a motorised dolly on it with the camera attached.

Probably more useful in sports videos and stuff like that!
