if you wanna get bothered by the cops... buy a rex... my b4 embarrasses the holden brigade on a daily basis... and ate a new WRX for lunch the other day...
handling, dont push it too hard and it will amaze you...
i sometimes dont know why you guys are too hard on the b4... well maintained its a great car, good size, good power and comfortable... what more you want??

been watching this thread from a few steps back... seriously buy the car YOU want! so many opinions the only one that matters is yours...unless you dont have one of your own.
Read peoples posts and then look at their profile... funny that gc8 owners say that is the best forrie owners same shit...
do YOU want an sti or a b4???

Yes that is true, I like to hear other peoples opinions and to hear from owners of each of the vehicles that have much more of an understanding about them than I have. There's only so much you can tell about a car from reading forums and possibly a test drive.
Yes there will be bias opinions from each of the owners, but it's worth hearing other peoples ideas than just my own.
Narrowed it down to a STi (at the right price) or a s15, but I'm sure my indecisiveness will change what I want 9024 times before I make an actual decision.
Cheers to all who took time to reply!

Good Luck mate... hope you find what you like...
i cant speak highly enough of my B4... i spent the day with her today, gave her some love of the detailing kind... she will be making way for either Nik (skillionaire)'s Outback or 2004 3.0R wagon...

There are currently a heap of bug sti's under 15k with low km's and clean.
Go test drive one, apart from those horrifying 02 headlights there an excellent out of the box package, and easy to get power from, and the driveline and brakes are done until you go plated diffs, and coilovers. Plus factory flashable ecu.

I don't think the bug eye was ever that bad, i mean, it's no Picasso but compared to say a Gen5? With some nice exterior mods, they scrub up real nice.
Ever thought of buying one from the East coast and having it railed over? Look into that, it may not be as exxy as you think.

If i had my time again I would have saved the extra little bit and bought a STI bug sedan instead of a WRX bug wagon.
Bugeye's can look really good with a few cosmetic upgrades and have all those STI goodies for such a small price.

Didn't realise there were so many B4 haters out there.
I love my B4 even though its unreliable as hell and currently in peices.
I've realised power and a giant Dyno figure isn't all and my next car will be all about torque!
4X4 Jeep or Nissan Monstar offroader baby!
But the B4 will always have a home at my place

Unless you like being friendly with the police on a weekend, dont buy a turbo nissan. Easy as that. Cops love them because they are simply too easy to defect.
Wrx's are in a similar basket, but generally depends on the mods you do to it moreso.
B4 in standard trim - keep the hell away. Problems. I know, I currently own one (although no longer in standard trim)
B4 with single conversion - now we are talking. Find one of these for a good price.
Even think about converting yours. All the fasts of an STi, but minus the police love as long as you are sane when they are present, and bugga all of the issues of a standard B4. Downside - can get pricey, with motor reg heartaches because of major modification (if you tell them about it)
But, as has been mentioned, get what YOU want. At the end of the day, you wont be happy, and will always wonder 'what if?' if you dont.
MY00 Red RX, a nice daily that was sold off once the B4 became reliable...
MY02 Blue B4, aka 'The Project' - v8 JDM STi engine package and assorted other 'goodies' - Sold, then bought back for parts. Stripped and crushed.
MY03 Blue RX, the newer old daily, pretty well more B4 than RX now... In the process of being converted to the track toy... Watch this space!
MY02 Silver Wagon, H6 conversion, full blue/black leather and almost full black interior to go with it.
MY03 White/Silver H6 Outback, donor car for silver waghoon.
MY97 Silver RX, acquired to become track car, but plans changed. To be stripped and scrapped in time.

rofl.
Ended up buying this
Haven't been pulled over in the last month of owning it but it does have a few defectable items haha
1. Too low
2. Too loud
3. Wheels too big
I pray everyday to the car gods that I don't get pulled over...
But I'm loving every minute of driving it!
