Yes battery, washer bottle and airbox out which took about 3 minutes with my rattle gun. Plug gap is different because the old ones have done about 115k km's.

I picked up a set of vehicle positioning jacks on special today, now I can fit all 3 cars in the main garage and the Outback no longer has to stay outside overnight.

They are in the current supercheap catalogue, usually $219 each but on sale at $199 a pair.

That's cool bro !
Are they easy to use ??
How long does it take you to get the WRX out of the garage now ??

Each one has a jack built in so lifting the car is quick and easy. The hardest part is pushing the car with little space next to the garage wall, the rear end moves easy but front is a little harder to get going with the weight of the motor. I'm sure I could have it out in about 15 minutes though, my next race is in about 30 days so I'll report back.

I timed it the other day, less than 5 minutes.

Good luck with it mate, the 2.0L turbo is much better than the POS na 2.5L motor in every way, its got loads more power and I'm getting better fuel economy too.

You wouldn't want to Forced Induction an NA motor as it already runs high compression. This is just spelling disaster. This has inspired me to do the same with a liberty

At least with stock internals.

I finally got around to straightening the steering wheel which has been a little off since the motor swap, we were driving up to Byron Bay for a mates wedding and I wanted a wheel alignment and balance before the long drive.
Anyway I go to my local Jax which i have been going to for about 15 years but its new management now and new staff. Told them I'd swapped the motor and had the whole front sub-frame out so I needed a wheel alignment. Comes back and says my rear brake pads are down to the metal and there is no way I will make it to Byron, do I want a quote for some new pads?
I tell him no its a 15 minute job, I'll do it myself. So I go next door to the Repco and grab some new brake pads and head home to change them.
You would think if a bloke is capable of swapping an engine then he probably knows when a set of brake pads are worn out but nice try anyway
This was the first big trip with the new engine, everything went flawless and I averaged just under 9L/100km on the freeway, overtaking was easy!

My local Bob Jane even once quoted me $700 to replace my rear struts because they had 'seized'. I told them they were susposed to feel like that being out of an STi but he swore black and blue they were gone. Stuck a GoPro under there and what do you know, working struts.
Good economy on your trip. Need some Duncan-spec-side-of-the-road-conversion pics to complete the post

There's still plenty of meat left on those pads... I hate people that look to screw you over for some more money.

I did plan on taking a few of those side of the road photos but it never happened, we sure did drive through some very scenic places.

Wow,
that's much better than I got on my long trip. I averaged about 11l/100km. I put that down to the low gearing (boosty boosty all the time) and huge pile of crap strapped to the roof (I reckon that's worth at least 10% more fuel consumption).
Funny how with all this modern tech, I still don't think to look for an app like that (which I'm sure there's 100's of), and use a pen and paper instead.

That's a very nice application actually. Is it only available on Android?
I'm hoping to reach such fuel efficiency when I get my wagon retuned.
