Looks good. got to love fixing a problem so cheaply to.

Never new about the hazard switch lighting up haha, are the cruise and fog light switches supposed to light up aswell. mine dont but i thought i saw 2 light fittings in one before. I hate them at night.

Indeed they do light up!

I did a write up for Gen3 lighting, it will fix all your dim problems :D

Looks identical to my centre console with the surround, white AC and S401 hazard. :D

Lol did you have to check your garage to make sure it was still there?

Looking good Jim!

What is that you replaced the purge solenoid with?

Yes indeed!

Only difference is the charcoal canister will see vacuum whenever it's off boost instead of when the ECU tells it too. I would imagine the factory solenoid would just click open and closed depending on manifold pressure anyway.

As long as it seals fine under boost and doesnt pressurize the fuel tank its a good idea

Interior mods look mint Jim.

btw what's your fuel economy like now? I normally do short trips (ie. O2 sensor barely gets to lean things out) to work and avg 11.5L/100km.

When the piston is pushed into the rotor, the outward and opposite force pulls the outside part of the caliper towards the rotor.

Newtons law pretty much "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction."

Aye. I get what you're saying but Newton's 3rd law applies between the the pad and the disc, not so much the force on both pads. I googled around for a while and it seems like the smaller pots allow for a larger pad which increases the contact area therefore increased performance. Other than that, I'm kinda stumped for why you'd bother with a fixed caliper?

I'm not sure exactly on fuel economy at the moment as I stuffed the fuel needle on the cluster (pulled it apart, didn't put it back on exactly where it was).

It shows about a quarter of a tank out so when sitting on E it's racked up about 300kms. I know there's roughly another 50-100km in it at that point. However, at the risk of running out of fuel and not having a servo close I just fill it when it's on E and I get about 30-40L back in.

Once I get the blackout cluster in (once I buy one) I'll have a better idea. I worked it out (back-of-a-napkin) to be about 15L/100km.

As for the brakes, I went with the 4pots as I got them for .... let's say, the price of your average carton of beer. They were in pretty shitty condition paint wise with no pads.

I reckon I'll probably salvage some braking feel going back to the 2 pots and decent pads.

My gauge seems a bit weird too! I haven't pulled it apart or anything, but after driving ~50km on E, I put 46L in the tank... Aren't they 65L? I've seen other guys post about 550-600km highway, and that sounds great. Maybe I should just drive around with a 5L gerry in the boot and do a Kramer

PS. Awesome deal on the 4pots!

I always thought they were 65 as well but it may just be 60. No one ever seems to keep the original OEM owners handbooks with these Legacy's.

I would love to have an original copy to go with the car. Even if it was in Japanese, I could at least  still laugh at the pictures!

15l/100 kms is pretty high Jim, what sort of driving? Last tank I got 9.9l/100. I average about 10l/100km each tank.

My light also comes on around 49l used.

I think the difference might be in the older style tune and revisions to the auto gearbox. Remember yours has a higher static comp ratio for economy, i think its 8:1 vs 8.5:1 for the e-tune.

My commute to work is only 15minutes but long straight roads so the secondary gets a bit of a workout lol. A bit if stop start, most drives are short distance.

Though some commutes i wont even get on the secondary. You have to commit a fair amount of roadspace and note the speed limit before punching number 2.

yeh - 15l/100km sounds high.

I get ~12.5 around town in traffic (rarely in secondary).  9.5-ish on the freeway, and that's with silly outback gear ratios.

Your 15min commute probably kills it - engine hasn't even warmed up.

Get yourself a fuel app and use it. Very handy. I use My Cars.

My tank hits E at about 15l to go, warning light at about 10l. I Kramer'd it to 100km on the warning light once, still didn't run out (but had a jerry on the roof).

Tank is 64l by the spec book.
