After moving house (again) and doing a lot of tidying up from the last tenants I had some time for the car last weekend. Removed the turbo and zorst and test fit the twist mount setup
and also removed the intake manifold to swap out for a bleck one. Cos black is stealth. Seems the mani has had some custom stuff done to it as it has extra fuel rail mounts for phase 2 rails.
Also pulled the comp cover off the turbo and gave it a coat of bleck too. Breaking the seal on the comp cover is a bit nerve wracking making sure you dont smash it into the wheel when it finally lets go. Have had thoughts about getting a billet wheel and highflowing the comp cover but wouldnt be seeing much change from $500 and its not worth it

Did some test fitting
and some blecking. Pretty chuffed how the mani has turned out. Looks 1000x better than the tired red juan in the back

Not really. Just anything thats tired old OEM zinc plated. Brackets and pipes and things.
Intake will be staying stainless cos I cant hide AMautos work

Remember how I said i wasnt going to get a highflow billet wheel? Yeah well then this happened
Im not sure if it was from something I did when i was fiddling with the comp cover or it was just hidden under the dirt. So 18G billet wheel has been ordered and will be going into a highflowed comp cover. Should make a nice upgrade so not all bad.
In the mean time i got stuck into tearing the front of the car down in prep for the front mount. Front bar off, skin off the reo etc. No chance of the core fitting with the centre section of the reo so cut it out
Gave the core a test fit and she fits between the limited lights (which are now back on after about 2 years). Just need to cut more of the reo away so it can sit down inline with it and then cut out under the lights.
Also removed the snorkus in prep for the intake and swapped the filty autobarn pod filter out for an Apexi one
So much room for activities

So this happened today
Was at the wreckers with my brother getting a rad for his daily. Spotted a gen 4 and had a stickbeak. Eyes were drawn to the reverse collar and then the bonnet scoop. Thought someone might have taken the box and left the shifter but no. Glorious TY856WWDAA is all mine now for a bullshit cheap price. Like proper bullshit. Skids

Depends how you define proper. It's the big strong wide case one, but from a liberty. So longer gears, no front lsd and no dccd, but will still take a beating.
Wont be in for a while. Thinking after the Xmas bbq.
Still need to get a diff, a shifter linkage, shift knob and a tailshaft. All easy to get thankfully

The wide case that's stronger is what I was referring to - not the 5 speed design with the 6th gear added to it.
No front LSD - shouldn't be too hard to fit one up (highly recommended!) and fitting the dccd should be pretty straight forward - I reckon finding the appropriate unit will be the bigger task I reckon.
It's certainly headed in the right direction though!
As for the other 6 speed box, it's got me wondering if the sixth gear can be added to a 5 speed dual range box...

Front LSD and dccd would be nice but theyd be probably the cost of an STi box to get fitted after the thought. Stronger gear sets is what im after and cos 6 speed sweg

First page updated with latest mods.
Car is back together and working again, well drivable. Need to do some more work to fit the front end of the car with the core. All seems to work great with no leaks and lots of skitz noises. Had a 2k rpm idle and massive hunting so swapped my IACV and TB back on rather than the ones from the parts car and its back to like it was. Now for gratuitous pictures
Had to go and buy a vice to make new mounts as the mounts from wobs kit dont suit my core location
Looks like a bit of a dogs breakfast but ive since cleaned it up a lot
No aids here, except for the blue
