Charcoal canister is only for emissions, it won't effect performance as such. Having it not hooked up could plumb fuel tank fumes into your engine bay rather than into your engine (for a clean burn).

I'm guessing that fancy white hose is for the oil catch can? A mate of mine with a foz mounted his catch can beside the intercooler on the passenger's side. It was a really neat and you wouldn't know it was there unless someone pointed it out to you.

Cheers

Yup white hose. Ideally I'd like to put it there however the cruise unit, igniter and wiper motor currently live there so no room

Time for an update aye. Ive recently moved out of home and into a house with a very nice garage for tinkering in. Second week in and this happened lol

eSd2Awl.jpg

Doing my headers. half moon sump and 2.7 rack.

On wednesday the mexicans came round to help get the engine out. Would have been pie except for the bloody dowel pins were seized into the block which took some creative levering and prying to get it apart which left no time to take stuff apart. So last night (thursday) i got stuck into it. Removed the turbo, stock headers and up pipe. Those heat shield bolts are a pain when theyve rusted down to 11mm instead of 12mm  :dash2:
Finally got them off and got the engine upside down to do the sump

Pretty clean inside. Ive also removed the oil cooler as it fouls the headers and Ty needs one for his 2.5 build. Got the proper blanking plug for the block side and will cap the water pump outlet.

Got the proper halfmoon pickup and windage tray in and cleaned the mating surfaces real nice and good like
kNy5V6C.jpg

Then stuck the new one on
U9DYLuP.jpg
Also have the proper TS dip stick. Dat new oring snap feel

Tonight i hope to get the rack swapped over or perhaps get the headers back on.

Fun times  :yahoo:

Fork that's a nice engine stand you have there.

The rack should be a piece of piss.

Engine stand is very hand omr.

Today the headers went on. Had to give them a little tug to get them on but nothing too bad. Also spaced down the up pipe with some washers under the brackets as per Wob and Warricks advice. Went in pretty easy.
qU8siiS.jpg
Gave all the gaskets a layer of high temp RTV for some security. Not as many pics tonight cos my hands have been covered in goop.
qoDWHYU.jpg
Engine is pretty much ready to go back in. Ive undone the rack lines to get as much fluid out as possible. CBF getting it out tonight as getting the tie rod ends out of the knuckle will probably need the dak dak and it was too late to be using that so called it a night

Not much happened over the weekend. Got the new rack in and the new lines. Got the engine ready to go back into the car. Attempted to do it myself but i cant get the angles right and the weight of the engine seems to be more forward so it hangs the wrong way on the crane so need more hands and eyes. Any way pics

Sweg noises, boost and performance > clean cross member.

Tuesday night we got the engine in and running. Last night i tidied everything up and got in the car to go for a drive; clutch wouldnt work. Id forgotten to clip the TOB into the pressure plate. Jumped out and clipped it in. Pops off as soon as you put the clutch in. Rage ensued.

After some thinking back to when the clutch went back on, it seems theres been an absolute collosal self stitch up. Like the biggest stitch up in the history of man kind. When i pulled the TOB off the plate I removed the snap ring rather than prying it off. Then I put said snap ring on the nose of the TOB, in the gearbox... Rather than putting the snap ring back in the collar on the plate.

So engine is coming back out  :dash2:  :dash2:  :dash2:  :dash2:  :dash2:  :dash2: :dash2:  :dash2:  :dash2: :dash2:  :dash2:

That sux the big one m8,

Like i said before you have 1 week, so should be all good.

I'm going to the shed after dinner, to fit the intercooler.

Everyone says it's a cubt of a job, i hope it isn't.

I could probs start it then, but straight out of the dumps might be fork off loud, then neighbours will rage.

I finally have a car again! After the absolute self stitch up I got the car running again, this time with a clutch but no power steering  :negative: Took for it a drive regardless. First impression is the headers have made a bit of lag. Given the size of the pipes im not surprised. The ARC airbox I got from japan went in too and my god does it sound good. Much better intake noise and gives an awesome dose

Tried to bleed the PS for about an hour to no avail. Ty had a spare pump laying around so I put that in and it works again thank god. Im not sure if my first pump is now dead or I did things in the wrong order. I possible killed the pump by having it run low for 20-30 seconds in my haste to get the engine running. The alignment is absolutely shot but getting a new one wednesday morning and then shes good for HVC.
mHrhAJB.png
Ive also cleaned the grease and ATF off the body of the car in the mean time so dont freak out.

Lots of 'I's' and not enough 'we's' in those last two posts m8.

Anyway, torqued to spec is just the manuals way of saying 'we couldn't get it any tighter, see if you can'.
